Well to each their own. Its all a matter of taste. I'm not mad about it. Its just my pv is with me all day ever day and while at my office. I'm sure as stated some will think its a nice touch and I will continue to use it at home but not at my office. Just wish I had read that it has the ability to tarnish. Maybe it was there and I overlooked it. Anyway I still think its a great mod
how does nickle plating tarnish, i thought thats what the plating should prevent,i would think its the alumium that would tarnish, learn something new every day
..................My UltraMax looks cool with the tarnish. Especially with the contrast of the battery holder (Which has not tarnished)... Looks like gunmetal.
If you use the Cape Cod Cleaning cloth that comes with our kits, (we also sell them separately), it will quickly remove the tarnishing. Even better, I found that after polishing it will take much longer for the tarnishing to begin to appear again, and when it does it will be less severe.

I received my Apex Alpha Ultra Max RES 3.7V today. The shipping was fast, I ordered it last Thursday and the mailman came with it this morning to me in Sweden. I must be the first to have one in Sweden, maybe in whole Scandinavia to
It's my first mod but I can't image me to need another one. It works, looks and taste wonderful. Its a piece of art and an amazing craftsmanship with classy details like the engraving in the bottom and inside of the main body. It has a nice vapour with a good th and feel. It was no problem to set it up and start vaping. The switch works flawlessly and I have no problem to fire it at al.
A downside, and Im sorry to say, but the liquid (24mg, regular full flavour) tasted and smelled awful. Im in no way an expert on liquids and taste is different for everyone but it was like burnt popcorn. Its the closest I get in describing the taste.
This gave me the opportunity to wash out the RES, dry it with some paper and fill it up with some good old Hangsen RY4
My wife and friends have had the fun to mock me for the giant size of the Ultra Max but they are comparing it to an ordinary cig. I think it was smaller and lighter than I thought it would be and it fits perfectly in my hands.
I dont know yet how long the battery will last for me but I think there is a good mileage in the RES. I have dripping in it a couple of times when I felt it needed some. I was a 1½ pack of smokes before and I now use about 4-6ml 24mg liquid a day.
Im sure I will be happy with my new, shiny Alpha for a very long time.
Glad to hear the Alpha made it over to you so quickly! Thank you for the great review, keep us posted on how the Alpha keeps working for you. I think you will find the battery life pretty impressive. You should easily get a full day of vaping out of the 17670.

No mine comes back fairly quick, but in a change of thought as others have stated that they like it. I'm leaving it alone and letting it turn its natural tarnish (blackish) color. Maybe in time it will be all chrome/black.. Its ok. I'm starting to like it myself...
Go figure..I am going to buy another manybe with a media blast or stanless ..Thinking about the provari..

What are you trying to use it for? Easy portability or a power house hitter? If you are not an extreme vaper that vapes like 10mls a day and want a really small pocket friendly device, I would go with the UltraLite or Ultra. If you want something that hits really hard and lasts a long time then I would go with the UltraMax.

I have arthritises, and difficulty with my hands, so the small size and portability appealed to me in the Lite. However, I'm not the biggest fan of the 10440. I have a Slim ♥, which I love, but it's a bit soft on the draw. Since I drip, I was thinking the doubled size of the RES in the Ultra Regular might be an advantage. Just not sure it's worth doubling the size of the whole unit (for me).I saw where you compare the UltraLite and the Ultra to a lighter.. do you have any comparisons with other models of ecigs (like the ego)?

leannebug, I have arthritis in my hands also and have the UltraMax which I love for going out and about. The size of the UltraMax is like a fat cigar to me - the lenght with any atty and drip tip is about the same as as a 650 Ego with an ikv carto and drip tip. The weight feeds good in my hands. I have a picture of a Reo mini and Woodvil with the UltraMax in my album if you would like to see the size comparison of them. I know you said you want an Ultra but it might give you an idea as the ultra is smaller.

If you are wanting better battery life than a 10440 then I would go with the Ultra. You get twice the battery life, twice the liquid storage, and it is just barely bigger than the UltraLite. Here is a comparisson of the different models, as you can see the Ultra is hardly any bigger than the UltraLite:
