Rinsing cartos as opposed to topping off

I've been topping off my cartos for a long time, it worked well enough. But last night I rinsed and blew out a couple and refilled. What a difference! They performed like they were fresh out of the box.

I guess I know what I'll be doing all night tonight. As long as I don't pass out from blowing out so much old juice and water. 8-o

I don't see why it wouldn't do the same thing. Maybe even better. I'll try just rinsing and letting some dry before refilling.

If you overfill, you can blow out the excess juice onto a paper towel and if it's pooled on top, you can twist up a piece of papertowel and stick it into the carto, it'll soak up all the juice on top.

I am really bad about overfilling, I'm learning more is not always better. I overdo everything, it seems.

Just dont soak or rinse them to long. I left about 5 in a everclear bath for several hours and after rinsing with water and filling them up again 3 of them didnt work. I think the everclear "helped" unattach the atomizer or something. Not really sure because i didnt perform surgery but now i just dunk and rinse dunk and rinse and it does just fine.

i have yet to do the rinsing.. i'm still so afraid i'll wreck the cart even though many have said they haven't. maybe i'll try it with the next cart i vape down to that 'icky taste'. see what happens. you *really* don't need to let it dry overnight, huh? and can fill/use right away?

do you blow from the batt end so the water comes out the mouth end, or vice versa? i always worried 'water' coming out the batt side might wreck the battery when you screw it back on to use.

(can you tell i'm used to "other brands" that weren't so easy?)

you can use them right away after rinsing but i have found you can only get about 20-25 good drops in a "wet" cart that has been rinsed. Letting them dry overnight you can get 30-40 drops in.

oh? i can't ever even get more than 12 to maybe 15 drops in without flooding the cart out (even with spinning--i do 10, then maybe 4 more, but maybe i'm playing it safe). you just use hot water, right? hold it beneath tap? oh, i need to just go find the original thread on rising, lol.

blow out from the mouthpiece side? sorry, i know that's a dumb question, but i don't want to wreck any more carts than i already have when i was learning to fill right. :D this might save me money in the long run, then, as i have plenty of juice.

Yup, blow from the mouthpiece, I know it would seem to make more sense to blow from the battery end but you get much more air in from the mouthpiece end and it all pushes out through the small hole in the batt end.
Blowing from the batt end seems to send the air right up through the center hole and not so much into the batting.

I just use hot tap water, take off the white cap and o ring, run the hot tap water through the carto and blow it through from the mouth end to the battery end a few times while rinsing. Then when the batting looks clean and I don't detect any juice smell I give it several hard blows to force the last of the water out (once again from the mouth end) take a paper towel and dry off the outside and the inner edge inside. I tend to refill right away but letting it sit overnight after cleaning it wouldn't hurt I'm sure.

I am working on my technique with the syringe - I just go slow until the batting looks saturated. I did about 20 of them last night, and it was a breeze.

I know this might seem ugly but, I am just asking. If you are going to eat the same thing every day would you not wash or rinse the utensils you used the first time around? Say you drink tea at every meal. Do we just drink the tea and set the glass to the side for use again tomorrow? And so on all week. Are we introducing more bacteria into our systems by refilling (topping off) over and over by not at least rinsing before refilling? Should we not be disinfecting by using very hot water in the least?
Hey, I clorox my granite countertops (and I am ruining them) can't wait till they are shot so I can replace them with a good corian that can take my ability to overclean.
I back out so many of the things I want to post but, I am gonna hit post on this one and see what happens.

hz -- that's actually a really good point and not ugly at all, even if we're not letting the world take vapes off our VK's and it's 'just being used by ourselves,' it's a strong point. because no, i wouldn't reuse my own dishes without washing them. :)

like i mentioned before, i'm used to a product that things like this wrecked the carts, though, which is the only reason i wasn't rinsing. but i'll be honest in that bacterial issues actually hadn't crossed my mind until your post.

You know, there are drops and then there are drops...I have the same experience--maybe 10-12 drops and it's saturated. Then again, I've just been topping off this carto, not refilling from scratch, but even then I never got 30 drops into one...

I read somewhere here that "drops" is a relative term, depending on the bottle your "dropping" from, a single drop could equal 2 drops from another bottle.

I haven't done any exact measuring, but this makes some sense to me: getting 10-12 drops X 2 = 20 - 24 singles. All I know is, go with what works for you--if you can fill it with 10-12 and it lasts a good long time, then that's all that matters.

HzG8rGrl: the rinsing/health comment makes we think: once upon a time, I rinsed out a bunch of cartos for refilling, but turns out I've been vaping/topping/vaping the same single carto for about 3 weeks now. It still vapes up a storm, but maybe for sanitary reasons I should give it a good hot rinse and start all over with it. I mean, who DOES leave their tea cup lying around until they use it again?:| But do I want to tempt fate that it might ruin this magical, everlasting carto?

I would assume that the PG would help to keep the inside of the carto pretty clean, germ-wise. I wipe my batteries and cartos down with alcohol every so often.
