I have been using my Riva 510 batters a week now. I have never seen this blinking light. After a whole day of using a battery, I stick it on the charger and go to bed. In the morning I use the other charged battery and put the one on the charger up for the day. This way, if I do happen to go out in the middle of the day I will have a fresh battery.

But. Should I wait till I see the light blink before I put it on the charger? Am I doing harm to the batteries this way?

I use to get well over a day with the Riva also when I was using it, you're fine. Charing Li ion batteries before they are completely depleted will actually lengthen the life span.

I think I read somewhere that some rechargeable batts have memory effect. something like if u didnt discharge it completely it will spoil the batt coz it kinda remembers how much charge it can hold based on the last charged amount. dont know if this makes sense...

NiCd batteries have the memory effect Li ion doesn't.

Thanks and one more question, I charged my Riva for about 7 - 8 hours however the green light still did not come on? Is this normal or is the charger faulter? I can only see a green light that comes on when the battery is connected and the red light on the Adapter. Im assuming if it is fully charged the green light on the adapter also should come on??

Awesome news. Thanks. yeah so far I have gone a day and a half at the longest before I charged one. There is just no need to complain about that. :)

Foysal, I don't understand... The light is green on the USB charger when it's plugged into the mains? That's OK. It should turn red when you attach the battery. Then it should turn green again when the battery is charged. If the green light on your USB charger never turns red, you need a new charger.

Rather than start a new thread, thought I would post my question here instead:

I just attached a new LR atty to the Riva battery and it fired once, then kinda blinked a couple of times. It is definitely fully charged though, so it wasn't indicating that it was flat. Now, when I click the button (even for just a moment) the light stays on for a full 5 seconds and then turns off but no power is being output to the atties/cartos (I tried 3 different ones, including the original one). The atties and cartos work on the other batteries I have. Before this, if I was to quickly tap the button, the light would turn on momentarily and then go off again. However, now it is staying on for exactly 5 seconds and then switching off.

Does this mean my battery is broken now?

UPDATE: I just pressed the button and held it in for the whole 5 seconds that the light stays on. When I released the button, the light blinked 3 times and now it won't even light up at all. Not sure what all the blinking and staying on means.. I'm sure the manufacturer would know..

UPDATE #2: I had another carto on the battery, because I was storing it on the battery in case of leakage.. and as I grabbed it just now, I reflexively hit the button. The light has come on again.. but back to where it was before.. 5 second solid light, then off. If I depress the button for 5 seconds WITH the carto on, it doesn't do the 3 flashes thing. If do it WITHOUT the carto on, it does the 3 flashes thing and then stops lighting up again. I put the carto back on again, and it is back to the 5 second solid light on again.... dunno..
