So I just got my first Reo in the mail. Everything had me giddy until I tried unscrewing the top cap to put a fresh coil in and get things goin. Fast forward 3 hours and I've tried warm water, latex gloves, rubber jar openers, and all I've gotten is a nasty slice on my finger. Why is this reomizer so hard to unscrew and how do I do it? the thing has not budged at ALL and I've tried everything I know of besides pliers.... HELP!!

Welcome to the Ville! Sorry your first day hasn't been bliss :(

First I would try putting it in the freezer for about 30 minutes, put on the rubber gloves and see if that helped.

If I have something really stuck, I wrap it in several (lots of) wraps of electrical tape to prevent scratching and break out the pliers.

Once it's up and running, you won't even remember the trials. Well, maybe you will but they will pale in comparison to the experience :)

I just received mine today also, the cap on the brass rm2 would not budge at all! What i did was wrap a rag around it then gripped with pliers and finally it came apart. I did leave a small scratch in the brass it's hardly noticeable but i KNOW it's there. If it bugs me too much i i will have to order another one...That's the excuse i will give the wife for Reo #2 anyway!

I just tried pliers and a rag and the rag is just sliding around... lol. Also scratched  mine is brass as well. Very frustrating for 53$ I must say...

Metal will expand and/or contract with temperature changes. Being shipped during the summer this happens sometimes. Don't be frustrated, I know that's easier said than done, it will come off and you'll be in vaping heaven.

Mine was doing the same at first then it finally broke free...thinking about it i swapped the rag out for a paper towel for more "grip" that's when the scratch happened...I wish you luck man!

I have always had better luck heating it under real hot tap water.

I've been having that same problem. I take a pair of needle nose pliers to the base and unscrew the topcap with my hand. Then I try not to screw it on too tightly. I find if I screw the base on very tight the o-ring creates a suction effect and gives enough friction not to move when I unscrew the top cap :)

Freezer is a bad idea IMHO as the top cap is thinner than the base and will contract in the low temp and tighten more. I would boil some water and dip only the top cap in the hot water for 10 min. The heat should expand the top cap and make it easier to unscrew.
Hope that helps, I know how frustrating it can be

Same thing happened to me! I swore little reo elves just climbed down in the opening and put those posts in there, because that sucker was not coming apart. What makes it worse, is if you have never seen one, you have no clue where it does unscrew. It is that finely machined you cannot see the seam. I had to scratch mine up with pliers also...kind of ticks you off a bit, since it is brand new.
