I'm about to hit a week of no smoking and today I'm having to really remind myself that I don't REALLY want that cigarette, that if I light it it will taste like ..... I just grab my pv and vape like a fool, but its been a little rough. I am now a firm believer that its not the nicotine that makes it so hard to walk away from cigarettes.

Congratulations Dukeslady! I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. If it helps, what I used to do to beat the cravings was to vape hard. Real hard. With the right juice, it just took a few days before I didn't even want cigarettes anymore. A couple more weeks and I was totally disgusted of the stench of cigarettes. I guess, the trick for me was to get the right juice and enjoy it as much as I can. Fixed both my nicotine and hand-to-mouth addiction.

I agree! There are times when I think of having a cigarette, but not really craving - it just crosses my mind to reach for one, if that makes sense. For the times I actually want one, I use one of those cheap cig-a-likes from the liquor store. Looks, feels and tastes almost as yucky as the real thing.

12:27am...err now 12:41am...where you are on a Saturday night. Whatever you're doing, stay strong! As you referred to it, keep vaping like a fool!

Sorry you had a tough day but huge congrats for sticking with vaping.

What gear are you using and have you found at least one juice that you really like yet? I was able to quit from my first vape using a Green Smoke cig-alike but I vastly preferred all the flavors I got to smoking. Also, I got annoyed with all the battery charging and topping off cartomizers so I ordered a variable voltage Twist paired with Vivi Novas one week in. The satisfaction I got from the better gear was world's ahead of my cig-alikes.

I also lucked into finding my very favorite non-Green Smoke vape juice right away. I think one needs all the equipment and juice stars aligned to help make quitting much easier. Just stick to it and things will fall into place for you in time.

Dukeslady,

I hear you! This is my first week off cigarettes too. I have been an on again off again smoker for a LONG time. I am still working on finding the right combination so the vaping will do the trick. Overall, I have been really surprised to not have the same smoking urges I have had, for what feels like, most of my life. What seems to be working for me is I vape a higher nicotine level in the morning to start my day and then taper a bit. I stopped using the V2 kit and got myself an eRoll. The eRoll certainly isn't perfect but it's allowing me to play with juices - nic level and flavors to find what will work for me.

It's not just the nicotine. For me, I miss the friends I used to go see every day to smoke. I miss the action of it. Even tonight when I bought gas I had a twinge because I didn't buy a pack of cigarettes. There are going to be memories and feelings that are going to surprise us a long the way. People can tell you it's in your head...but the truth is, if you feel it, it's real.

Treat yourself great. Congratulate yourself on every hour passed. Heck, every minute passed if it helps. I know we have made the right choice here. Not to sound "WooWoo" but I wish you peace and ease on this journey. May it get easier and easier.

I think it takes a couple of weeks and you probably won't even be able to draw from a cigarette even if you're craving for it. I honestly would like to try one right now not because I am craving but I'm curious of the taste... Wanted to see how it tasted for me 22 years ago when I took my first "puff". I just can't wrap my head around the stench of the smoke so I couldn't try even if I'm curious. It'll get better. Don't worry.

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, I wasn't doing anything all that fun just after midnight on a Saturday, I'm simply a night owl. THAT test comes when my best friend gets here later in the week because it seems we drink wine constantly when we're together. Her 12 year old daughter actually bought us wine glasses last Christmas:oops:.

Anyway, I'm using and ego 650mah with passthrough, and a mini vivi nova tank. Still trying to find that just right juice, although I've tried a couple I liked. This morning I filled my tank with Banana Nut Bread from EC Blends. So far, I like it, but even though it's 24 mg nicotine, there's not really a throat hit.

I've never made it this long in any attempt I've made to quit smoking. Knowing how bad they actually taste, how bad they make me smell now that I can actually smell it), and how happy my kids are that I've quit keeps me from lighting up. I know that there will most likely be a moment when I fall off the wagon, but I'm a country girl, so I know I will just need to dust myself off and get back on.

remember your fighting the addiction to just smoke as well, up the nic level and really really think about it, what are you truly missing?

after about two months, I found myself thinking about lighting up but i stopped myself and made myself think about why, what is it I really want from that cig? is it the nic? nope dont seem to be having a problem with that? flaver? nope I like this ry4 just fine, then what?
then I realized after 35 years I was missing a friend, a companion, always there for me, new house, car, job, spouse, good times bad times just always there, always something I did.
I had to trian myself to realize its the action of smoking I miss not the actual cig. went up on nic level and vaped myself silly.

Im the end if you have one or two its ok, it does not have to be all or nothing, feel glad that it was just a couple. and not a pack and a half. there are many people who wake up have a smoke grap the vapor and head out the door to work, come home have a smoke and vape the rest of the night . find a middle ground, if you can just stop all cigs god bless, but not everyone can and thats ok too.

when I still really need a cig i have one called cuban, its dry, smokey and when I turn up the power it gets warm and feels almost so darn close to smoking its uncanny. some of the problem is needing to feel that hit.

I know exactly how you feel. When I quite smoking, I figured I wouldn't want one since I had my e-cig with nicotine...how wrong I was. I am now about 9 1/2 weeks smoke-free and this past 10 days have been hard, I want a smoke badly. But, mind over matter and willpower keep me from doing...and feeling like a failure if I did break down and smoke. I'm hoping it will get easier with time, you just have to remember that you are stronger than a cigarette and keep moving forward.

I had the same day yesterday. I had been analog free for almost 3 weeks. Something weird went on yesterday and I pulled out this old pack I had from 3 weeks ago, stale...gross. After searching for a lighter for an hour, I decided I would go outside and enjoy one. I don't want to deny myself one if I want one that bad. My mind obviously has a different fantasy then the reality of those...it was stale, smelly, and honestly not enough difference really then my ecig. I am glad I know. I guess I am still retraining myself. It was so not worth it but oh well. I am back to vaping and happy as hell I found my electronic cig. I love them! Back on the wagon and staying put.

Frankly, I rarely get "great" throat hit from non-tobacco flavors. Some menthol flavors will deliver the POW though (like Johnson Creek's Solstice. It's a fruit blend topped off with menthol).

But I am not a big menthol guy, so I make sure to always have a couple of strong tobacco flavors in my rotation.

Best of luck to you.

It's a little odd, because I was never a menthol smoker, but I am liking the menthol, minty, cinnamony flavors more than the fruity ones. Of course, I've only tried a handful, did NOT like the Dragon's Tear, but put it away and plan to go back and try it on that day I'm out of the good ones and needing a backup. We'll see how it tastes after it steeps. I have a very cinnamon flavor coming in a sample pack I ordered Friday, and can't wait to try it.
