Rough Stack Powdercoat Finish

I've had my black sparkle Maxi Rough Stack for around 3 weeks now, and I thought it was time to give a little feedback on the powder coat.

It is holding up. And, I haven't been taking it easy on it like I said i would. My RS has hit the concrete floor in the shop at work two or three times and I've dropped it getting in and out of the car a few times on a variety of surfaces from asphalt and concrete to gravel and dirt. So far, no chips or scratches.

I inspected it closely last night. What really impressed me was the bottom. All of my mods have completely scratched up bottoms. I'll set my PV down just about anywhere that provides a flat enough surface. So, my desks, different equipment in the shop, a flat rock, porch railings, concrete, - you-name-it. If I need to free up my hands, my PVs get set anywhere handy. The bottoms get really scratched up.

So far, I can't detect even a single scratch in the bottom of the black one. The powder coat is durable and very resistant to that sort of thing.

I ordered mine with the tumbled finish. I figured if it is a rough and tough device that is made to take the abuse, why not let it look aged. I have always been a fan of brushed, or hammered finishes, rather than polished.

Although, If there was a Purple powder coated maxi for sale last night, I probably would have bought that instead!

I bought mine just before they came out with the powder coat. Good to know they hold up, will buy the powder
coats for gifts and/or another back up.

We have the purple maxi (thanks to Hoogie) and it has held up like a champ. It has been taking a beating. It sits in the wife's purse, so you know it gets beat around.

kewl...I'd like to get my hands on a red or black regular (both out of stock atm) or maxi to add to my collection....love the roughstacks. I've only seen the reg versions with the powdercoating advertised at MV, and would like to see them as an option for a kit as well, would make for a great gift to someone...

yep, saw those the night the newsletter was posted, sorry but I don't care for the new colors...red or black for me thanks... hoping to see the maxi's in powdercoat now, or to see kit options with powdercoat choices... I'm not buying 'em for just myself...

They need a part for the coat oven to do maxi's reliably. The tube they are baking them in is too short. - I read that on their facebook page a week or so ago.

Maxi RoughStack V2 Kit is the only Maxi they have available right now.
I had to order the body and cap seperatley last week to get the tumbled finish. Check back every morning, I am sure they will add more when they have them. They added several of the short bodies on Monday.

Thanks, I didn't want to buy them seperately cause I read some parts weren't campatable so I didn't know if the cap and body would work, and I already have the batts and charger. I want to use it for 6 volt vaping mainly. They said on facebook a couple weeks. I will keep checking cause they go fast.

Version 1 and Version 2 have incompatible threads. But they only sell Version 2 now, so any individual parts you buy new will work with any other RS parts you buy new...

I bought the cap and body seperatly (same price as the whole unit) and works just fine (they don't sell V1 anymore)

I really like the finish on mine. In indoor lighting, the sparkles don't show up too much and it looks like maybe a little texture or something. Take it out in the sun, and it looks 3D. It reminds me of the paint on a 69 olds delta I used to have.

true, there 'was' one available, but the person I'm thinking to get one as a gift, prefers the gloss black....the red on the other hand, is for me...I wouldn't turn down a candy or translucent red if they were available, also...
