The DNA40 looks to be $65, the enclosure $50 plus shipping, then there is the other needed hardware and my time, which I don't consider free. It's probably pushing $200. I do like the SXMini, except for the price tag.

I'm curious however, you say you like 1.5 ohm and want 3.0v. Are you basing this on the readings on your experience with what your istick is reading? If so, at 1.5 ohm the iStick is in actuality firing around 4.0v.

I run 3v, 1.5 ohm and I get a cloud about 10X of a cigarette and nice flavor.

I chain vape and my throat burns easy, after months of screwing around I finally have a setup that works well for me, 3v and 1.5 ohms works perfect.

Lower your nic down below 6%, and PG as low as possible and you might find out why people like higher wattage/lower resistance vaping. :)

But running your old standby juice in a high performance mod and tank is like using 15" Camry wheels on a new Corvette, and saying "I don't like the way this 'Vette drives but it can't be the wheels and tires, they worked great on my Corolla and never let me down".

I checked it with my Fluke meter and the istick is firing at 3 volts.

3 volt, 1.5 ohm coil may calculate to 6 watts, but the IPV mini is noticeably hotter than the istick, swapping the same addy/build.

New, not in the least, I found a combination that works for me, just need a battery swappable box mod. I have burned my mouth and throat enough already.

BTW the XS mini and ZNA 50 are both only wattage adjustable.

I'll just modify my istick so I can swap batteries.

Have you seen Phi's review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W1G7p_fCJw Under load he gets nothing lower than 4v (jump to 23:46 in the video for the chart). My iStick is worse and is never used. This thing does not have step down so I'm not sure how you are getting 3v.

Do you mind me asking what ratio and nic level you usually vape then? Genuinely curious, and not in an "I told you so" sort of way either.

And just as an FYI, the Cloupor Mini fires down to 3.6v, (and has VW AND VW mode) so it's got a fairly low floor compared to most of the inexpensive single 18650 mods with replaceable batteries. You generally won't see much lower than that without moving up into the higher priced YiHi or Evolv mods. The notable exception is the IPV Mini, that gets down below there with some PWM jackhackery.

Skip to about 23:30 for the charts:

As others have said here previously .... The iPV Mini has voltage stepdown capability down to 3.0 volts as long as you are operating the iPV Mini in the PWM mode.

The OP stated that he is using a 1.5 ohm coil .... As long as you select 6.0 watts of power on the iPV Mini, it will output 3.0 volts (which = 6 watts) of power to your coil if your in the PWM mode.

I can't see anyone that would vape with that low of power, but the Mini certainly will supply 6 watts of power to a 1.5 ohm coil (again, being in the PWM mode)

OK, I forgot that the istick is PWM, I didn't use my oscilloscope to read it. Whatever the numbers are or caculate to, I know my systems works the way I like it, except for swappable batteries. The IPV has burnt my mouth/throat.

How about another way, how do I get cooler vape?

My normal setup is an istick, 3 volt, Smoktech Pyrex RSST, 1.5 ohm single coil, 2mm ID, with two 7/64 holes facing the coil, feeding the coil top and bottom with cotton.

croak; 80/20 v/p, 26 nic

I'm fine being proven wrong, all I want to do is vape, not going back to endless experiments and burning my throat.

I can't see how supplying a 1.5 ohm coil with only 3.0 volts (6 watts) of power could be burning your throat?

Maybe it's that 26mg Nic juice you are using?

Try some 18mg Nic juice next time .... or if that fails, a different atomizer

The rig I explained and picture is NOT burning my throat. The IPV mini with the same addy/build is whats burning my throat.

(I had to drill out one the the screws to get this apart, it's way there is foil tape on the top)
