Welcome to the forum! What did you purchase?

I didn't put any pressure on myself. If I felt like having a cigarette I vaped. If I still wanted to have a cigarette I had one. Slowly if you keep at it, you'll want or even like cigarettes less and less. Keep in mind that vaping isn't as quick acting as smoking a cigarette. If you do feel like having a cigarette, tell yourself you'll wait 1/2 an hour. Usually the want goes away.

I would read through this-
Beginners E-Cig Tutorial

Particularly page 2 where it explains nicotine levels.

I didn't have my fav brand around. I had some RYO tobacco which wasn't great. That really helped me a lot.

What I did is try to not put too much pressure on myself.

If you vap for a couple of weeks, and it allows you to cut down on analogs, you're off to a good start!

Then, what I'd suggest, pick a quit date when YOU are ready to really try and quit!

Prior to your quit date arriving, order some e-cigarette liquid in a flavor that you like, but bump up the nicotine one level... so, for example, if you generally vap 18mg of nicotine, get yourself one bottle of 24 ml juice.

Now, when your "Quit Date" arrives... throw out all of your analogs the night before. When your quit date arrives, try this...

If you feel the need to smoke, make a deal with yourself. You take three, four drags off of your ecig device with the 24 ml (or whatever the "bumped up level" of juice is that you purchased) juice. If after that, you STILL want/crave an analog, then you'll allow yourself to have one.

This worked for me. It MAY work for you.

Other people say that as soon as they began to vap, they no longer ever craved a cigarette. That wasn't my situation, but everyone's different.

ALSO... make sure you have some GOOD flavored, quality juice (I happen to love Halo, Vanilla Custard from Vapor Room, and numerous others!) and a device that delivers a strong vap, preferably a variable voltage mod.

Good luck, and don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Most importantly... enjoy vaping and the journey!

The way I started was just vaping at work. That is where I would smoke the most. My first day with my kit I smoked 2 regular cigarettes, I would normally smoke at least half a pack just at work. After three days I was only smoking at home. I noticed that at home I was craving to vape instead of smoke, so last saturday I had one last cigarette, and have not looked back since. I smoke a little over a pack a day, I started with 24 mg juice, and that has worked like a charm. I have had cravings for a regular smoke, but usually at the normal times everyone does, i.e. after dinner, right when I wake up, in the car, but as soon as I vape it immediately goes away. This morning was the first morning since I quit analogs that I didn't want one as soon as I woke up. Hang in there. It will get easier to say good-bye to the stinkies.

There is no right or wrong way to make the switch from analog to vaping. Go at your own pace, this isn't a race. Some are able to completely stop using cigarettes as soon as they pick up a PV, as I was. Others wean themselves off at a slower rate. You have to do what your body tells you. We can only tell you how it worked for us.

I'm one of the lucky ones! After smoking for over 40years, I discovered vaping. For me, the nic is the issue, and once I found a decent pv and 24 mg juice, the analogs were gone. I had a day at work without a spare battery, and tried an analog, and it tasted like total crap. I haven't wanted to try anothfer since. I vape as much as I want, which is usually a lot! Since I never smoked in the house or car, and now vape in both locations, I stay satisfied. I wish you the best in your journey, and hope it goes as well as mine is!

When I started, I just got samples of a bunch of different juices. Once I found ones that I liked, I basically had the eGo in my mouth all day. After a while, I liked the taste of vaping more than cigarettes and I eventually stopped smoking. At some point later, I tried another cigarette and it made me extremely dizzy and I no longer wanted them.

Don't put any pressure on yourself... it'll happen on its own. Also, you may want to try some LR atomizers and cartos to satisfy the cravings. Good luck!

I am in that situation now.

I am down to 1 or 2 cigs a day but want that out of my life too. Sorry still stunned by how easily, I do mean easily, going from 20+ to 1 a day was.

Ordered a few juices at 18mg, I am vaping 12 most of the time now, so the plan is when the 18mg comes in I drop the cig.

Wish I had started with 18 but hey you live and learn and it doesn mean I won't be struggling for 12mg juice when I start to wean myself off nic.

Welcome Makita!

Here's how it worked out for me:

I tried one of the cheap-o gas station PV's a few months back. It was terrible, but I knew that the concept was solid after trying it. I did some research and settled on the style and supplier and bought a Titan 510-T kit. Now, being a heavy smoker I was concerned about nic strength and the 18mg that pre-filled in the cheapo that I bought hadn't done it for me. So I got 36mg juice - not saying anyone else should, but I did and it works.

The only major issue I had after getting my good kit was proper vaping technique. A vid on Youtube solved that for me. Once I figured that out I was getting the throat hit I wanted. From then on, I have completely given up on analogs. The idea of smoking just kinda turns me off now. I vaped until I was satisfied. If that meant 5 minutes or an hour non-stop, so be it. No right or wrong way to do it. Your body knows when you're done, and it knows when you've overdone it.

Aside from that, I upgraded my battery to an E-go pass-thru because it became a PITA to have my 510 go dead on me.

I never though I would quit smoking; I loved the feeling soooo much. High throat-hit liquid was a must for me (still is), that was the biggest concern regarding the switch. I made sure to match vaping to my smoking routines, in addition to using the ecig whenever I had additional cravings. I alternated between 18 & 24mg juice, mostly using the 18.

I made sure to ALWAYS have a charged battery on reserve, on my person, and juice with me at all times in case of emergency refill needs.

The nic absorbs differently from cigs, so though I was technically getting the same or more nic than from cigs, I did have cravings & an adjustment period, but it was minor & short-lived.

When I REALLY wanted a cig I would just have one & not feel guilty. For the first 2 weeks I would have up to 4 analogs a day (down from 40). After that it tapered off & now, 2 months in, I have usually 1 cig a day just because they are available, and I frequently go for days at a time with no cigs at all. I do not need them, they are like an "extra": I don't even like cigs anymore to tell the truth, it is mostly nostalgia at this point.

I was able to effectively quit habitual smoking without issue, and this while living with several heavy smokers & rolling all the cigarettes for them. I can now sit for an hour and roll a carton of analogs without wanting to smoke one.

With good preparation, maintenance, and dedication, I

Vape as much and as often as you like. The nic absorption rate is not as high as a cig and it takes a little longer to hit your system. If you get a headache, or feel dizzy, or nauseous, take a break, or lower your nic strength, but don't order too low a nic strength in the beginning. If your nic strength is right for you, you will not get cravings.

It would be very hard to overdose on nic with any kind of regularity because your body will tell you 'no'. If you don't hear that 'no', you can do whatever you like or makes you comfortable.

I was on chantix when I started vaping had been on it for 2 months I was still smoking about 8-12 cigarettes a day on the stuff and I stayed on it for my first week of vaping to help make the transition so when I started vaping I just held on to my PV all day and vaped it constantly it's was easy for me to do I work from home, but I think the chantix made it easy for me I didn't want to smoke as long as I could vape. I think it would have been harder if I was still smoking 2 packs a day and didn't work from home. if you are still smoking at first don't beat your self up over it not everybody quits smoking the day they get their PV
