RSST heating up slowly

I'm having an issue with my RSST. Ever since i recoiled it with triple twisted 28g (5 wraps @.51 ohms) it takes at least 5 seconds to actually start vaporizing juice. Dry burning the wick also takes a few seconds for the coils to all heat up evenly. I'm using Sony vtc5's that are only a month old. It's acting like i have a almost dead battery (best way i can describe the issue) Could it be a bad connection at the positive post due to caked up/burnt juice? Any ideas? Are the screws tightened down?

I would wash it out with hot water, then air dry, then dry burn to see if the coils do burn slow. Gunk from any juice do cover up coils.
