I just ordered my first rebuildable Atty, an RSST from Hoosier Vapes. Quick qestion, does this accept cotton or Silica for wicking material? Or do I need mesh? I heard this was a good one to learn on and for $27 I thought I would give it a go.

One other question, I saw on another thread someone said something about leaking if they are not left straight up, leaks when on it's side?? Anyone have any experience of this? I ask because I will be using it in my truck on the road and if it does leak then that will be a problem for me.

Thanks everyone.

It will work with a cotton or silica set-up. As for the leaking, it will in some instances. If you leave the fill hole plug out, (as most do), it will leak if laid down for a period of time. I have had mine for a couple weeks now and it has leaked on me once. I had the plug out of it at the time, (in the middle of Walmart, no doubt). I am not sure why it works sometimes with it in and sometimes with it out. I think it has something to do with it being air locked or something. I am still investigating with it. I had it set-up with a cotton wick at the time. I have since went back to mesh since. In the beginning I had a problem with the mesh taste coming from it, but after some research found that because I didn't torch the mesh from the start, that was my problem. Torched my mesh this time and all was good. Almost too good!!! I vaped all day yesterday with the plug in and no problems until I filled it last night and all of a sudden every 3rd hit it would be a dry hit!! After about an hour or so I pulled the plug out and all was good. Be careful with the plug, as it is very small and seems to sometimes wander off on its own... I did get 2 spares with mine in the box though. I have really enjoyed the vape on my RSST since getting it and all my other rda/RBA's have gotten very lonely... I was never a tank type person from the start and feared I was just wasting my money, but to no avail, I love it!!!

I have a micro coil with cotton in it. I don't like the fill plug because for me, the vape isn't nearly as saturated. What I do that works very well is to drap the cotton over the side of the coil and tuck it down into the wick hole. that seals the wick hole and not only aids in wicking, it helps with leaking since juice won't (or shouldn't) leak out of one hole if the other is sealed.

Just started using my RSST again. Here's mine- I absolutely need the fill hole plugged in. Without it the vape is mediocre. Matter of fact I'm trying to find where I can buy more plugs. Once they get dropped they're never to be seen again.

That's a Cool Idea!

BTW - What size wire are you using and about How Many coils is that?

Like everyone has said leaking is determined by the fill hole being plugged or not. If you leave the rubber stopper out it will wick better. Depending on your build it will wick too well causing flooding. My experience is that if I'm using cotton I leave the stopper out, using mesh I leave it in. I do have to say that although I love using cotton in my dippers, kayfun and protanks I don't care for it in a genesis style atomizer. It just seems like they are better suited for ss mesh. Of course this is just my opinion and people will disagree. I do think that the RSST is a great intro into rebuildables, good luck!

Mine came with 2 extra plugs but the silicone top from a needle tip bottle fits the fill hole perfectly and it's easier to grab and pull out.
