Setup:
smok Procolor 220w
Big Baby Beast tank
Baby Beast RTA
Dual coil Kanthal, 24g, 3mm ID, 9/8 wraps, .382 ohms
45 watts
Organic cotton ball as the wick (boiled)

The issue:
At 45 watts I get okay flavor, but I have to draw as hard as I can. If I don't draw as hard as I can, I tend to get a burnt flavor. If I set my watts above 50, I tend to get a burnt like flavor no matter what. I like to take long slow draws as I tend to get the best flavor that way, but for some reason with this RTA it is kind of hit or miss.

So what, with all of your collective wisdom, do you all think I should change? To much wicking? Do a parallel dual coil? Less wraps?

In my mind I would think that I should probably use less wicking, because if I am getting a burnt taste, it would probably mean that the wick is too thick, and not enough juice is getting to the coils fast enough. But I figured before I did that, it would probably be best to ask around.

I would use less wicking or a smaller diameter coil first . My limitless RDTA is like that,if I take a slow draw it is an extremely hot vape .

Coil positioning has a lot to do with it too. If your coils are high above the airflow it will give the same results your getting now too. Try to put the coils lower and see if that helps and post back.

I re-positioned the coils a little lower, and put about 2/3rds the wick in that I had before. Making sure that this time the wick had nary a tug when I pulled it through. I also trimmed the wick a little shorter this time so it was not quite all the way to the bottom. At least for now that seems to do the trick. The real test is how it holds up.

I agree with puff,I use KGD cotton it wicks well and taste is great to and easy to work with.
Glad it is wicking now for the time being. Try not to get the wick too lose. The more builds you make the easier it gets to eyeball the amount of cotton needed for a certain build.

Definitely start with the wicking, I'd say, and make sure you aren't wicking it so tight it's hard to get airflow going. I love rayon and find it so much easier to work with than cotton, if you're ever interested in trying something else. Rayon does shrink with use, so my draw may seem a bit tight at first, but after breaking it in about half a tank, it's great. I love its longevity since wicking is... (to me) a total PITA though I am getting better at it. I overwicked a Kayfun clone once and got that burnt, suck through a straw, sensation.

Good luck, I hope your wick holds up! :)
