FWIW I really like the Hussar. There are two types, one is more suited to MTL (I believe) the other is more suited to DL, I can't remember which, I suck at that stuff, but you can probably find out more on this thread: https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...a-single-coil-deck-attack-of-the-clones.78754

It's a seriously likeable setup, and I'm not even fully convinced rebuilding is the way to go, at least not totally all the time, and I still love my hussar.... :)

That does look nice, Opinionated. So many things are nice! I am having to accept that I can own SOME nice things, not all of them. :) Took me a while, but I tend now to keep my eyes on one or two things....

Anna

I think we are all there, we can have some nice things. just not everything or we would be so broke...

I'll never get the firebird there, my husband would kill me if he found out I spent 400 dollars on an rta, and he doesn't even care what I do with my money! But I think 400 on an rta would definitely make him start caring.. Hahaha.

It's nice to have a really nice vape, once you find that your solid though and don't really need anything else.. I am not planning on buying anything else for quite a while myself. I have a nice vape.. :)

I might do a couple small pretties though, from time to time - so long as they don't cost 400 dollars! Hahaha

Thank You all for the input. the build deck on the Hussar looks like a longer lasting design IMHO.
will have to look at the kayfun designs as well as the OBS engine.

am attempting to stay at about $20 for complete tank setup, knowing wire wick and coiling tools will have to be added.

Since i recommended the Prime and someone else mentioned the Berserker, you might enjoy this thread which compares the two and discusses the finer points of each.

(BTW - If you like some of the Primes features, you may only have to wait a few weeks for the clone since your worried about price point at current moment)

VV Berserker vs. SM Kayfun Prime

My years of experience with tanks and replaceable coils (Kanger/Uwell) found that about half of the expensive new coils had problems. Three weeks ago I bought an OBS Engine and a box of various pre-made clapton coils. Having no experience with coils and wicking, I watched several YouTube clips showing how to build and wick RTAs. I've enjoyed the OBS so much that I ordered a second one. Big improvement in flavor and the 5 ml tank vapes for hours.

I'll just recommend the old faithfull: Aromamize supreme (v2), and yes I can MTL on that thing (although it certainly isn't very tight draw) ...it's a very good tank.....I tried lot's of others, but it is one of the best....

Else maybe look at the new Merlin 22, supposed to be MTL, but from the stories out there it's a mix between MTL and DTL, just may be your ticket.

+1 for the nectar. A great tank with a nice, low price. That is one of the few tanks where I use cotton wick
How do you run it? I tried something like a 12 watt build but it's too hot and spitty to go over maybe 8 watts and I'm thinking about retrying with a target of 5-7 W. Small chamber and short air path seemed like a good idea but the coil almost touches the drip tip and is aimed right up it. (I have gotten better at avoiding spitty, but haven't actually messed with the thing for a year).

I typically build a .50 ohm coil and vape around 16 watts

Ok, Now that I have had some time to really look through some of the RTA threads as well as look over quite a few of the RTAs out there on the market, an really swaying toward either of these 2 GeekVape rigs, the Ammit 25 or the Zeus.

The build decks look easy to use,and wick. From reputable company.

Also thinking of getting the CopperVape Hussar clone as well.

It looks like you did the research and came up with a nice list of toppers. All of those will be nice to start with to achieve your building Feng shui going and then once complete you can start buying more....

Because you can never have to many.

    I don't have the Ammit 25 yet....Hmm

Maybe pick up one of each ;)

I am not new to the vape world but have never built or wicked coils before. I am looking for an inexpensive starter RTA and know this to be the place to ask.

currently using nautlus minis 24mg nic 50/50 at around 9 watts and AL85 with Baby Beast .4 ohm coil 12mg nic 70/30 at 45-55 watts.

am more of a flavor chaser than cloud chaser

am looking forward to a little guidance from my fellow ECF members

    Thanks

The nautilus minis were my daily attys before I moved on to RTAs. Youd probably like the Kayfun lineup and Hussar for MTL.

I do mtl with the nautilus set ups and DTL with the AL85s

am wanting to avoid drippers with a passion

so Rebuilable tank set up capable of both above and sub ohm preferred

My two bits for what it's worth.

First time builder, get something with decent build quality, good Vape and easy to build/wick. That and I advise to go single coil. My first RTA was the SquapeRS, expensive but I'm glad that was my first RTA.

    Anyway here's what I recommend

For MTL and a tight DTL I'd go with the Kayfun 5. If you can't afford the authentic SXK makes an excellent Clone for around $20, I have both the Clone and Authentic and you honestly cannot tell a difference between the two. So much to the point that I have insure I keep the parts separated. The other would be the Merlin Mini, awesome little RTA. Advantage with the Merlin mini is it comes with both a single coil deck and dual coil deck along with constrictors to tighten up the airflow so you can go MTL with it.

Now for DTL I would recommend SMM Serpent Mini and again the Merlin Mini. Both of these are great performers for DTL along with being very easy to build and wick.
