RTA for newbie

Hi guys

I would like to buy an RTA, but I'm new to vaping. I wrote to the newbie section here in the forum, and I got some advice.

I tried Vaporesso Xros - Nicotine 3mg 50VG 50 PG, and it was not strong enough for me. I would like to get a stronger throat hit.

I would like to buy a mod where I can use some tanks with changeable prebuild coils first, and where I can use some RTA tanks after. I prefer a mod where I can set low wattage (from 5-10W). I prefer MTL and don't need big clouds..

I got a tip:

If you want to buy a device that you can use an RTA later without buying extra parts, then Buy an Innokin Kroma-R mod instead then buy an Innokin Zlide tank to go with it (you can find these in a kit together as well. That Zlide tank takes the same coils as the Kroma-Z mod system.

Are there more options?

There are many other mods that will go down to about 5 watts. If you want a very small and lightweight mod, then you should check out the Vaporesso Swag 2 aka Swag II (not the original Swag). It's about as small and as light as it gets becuase it's mostly made of plastic.

If size is not an issue, then there is also the Geekvape Aegis solo which is also fairly light due to a lot of it being plastic and rubber. It's a bit chunky in the hand, but not to chunky. It is water/shock/dust resistant.

The Aegis Solo looks awesome! I love ruged stuff and IP 67 is just a bonus! Does thesingle battery last all day when I smoke 6 - 10 cigarettes per day ? Is the Ares 2 compatible with this mod?

Echo the above responses.
If I could limit myself to 6-10 cigarettes per day, I would have never quit.
Get some higher nicotine e-liquid for the Xros. Choose nicotine salt juice in the 30mg/ml to 50mg/ml range.
Menthol or mint can enhance the throat hit if the salt based liquid is still too smooth.

Yes, the Ares II RTA is a 510 RTA so will work on any 510 mod, like all the above mods mentioned in this thread.

If you vape 10 watts or lower and you are a light vaper, one new and healthy and fully charged 18650 will likely last you a whole day.

But do yourself a favor and get a 2-bay (or 4-bay if you want) battery chargers. It's better to charge batteries in a charger and not in a mod for several reasons. If you do charge in the mod, be very gentle and delicate with inserting and removing the USB from the mod. Very gentle

BTW: If you like the Aegis Solo and you don't mind a mod that is slightly bigger than the Aegis Solo, then you should look into the Aegis Max. The Aegis Max is basically the same exact mod as the Solo except it takes not only an 18650 but also a 21700 battery, which lasts longer. The only other major difference is that the Max has different buttons better suited for using the mod when you're wearing work gloves. But other than size, battery choice and buttons, it's the same mod.

Hard to say for sure, however, vaping at 10W on a regulated mod, you won't be pulling even 5 amps, more like 3-4 amps. Given, you could go with a reputable 15 amp 18650 battery like a Sony/Murata VTC 6 or Samsung 30Q, both are @ 3000mah. According to Steam Engine Battery Drain Calculator, at 10W those batts may give you about 800-900 puffs if they are under 5 seconds long.

If you go with a 21700 battery mod and use a reputable like a Molicel P42a or a Samsung 40T, those are both 4000mah. So that extra 1000mah could give you about 200-300 more puffs over the 3000mah 18650 batts above.

I would just get the Zlide, it's the more modern of the 2 tanks. Both take the same coils and both are MTL tanks which can be adjusted to do tight MTL to loose MTL (the Zenith Pro I believe will also do a restricted DL).

Make sure you get the 24mm (D24) version as it will hold more juice.

Everyone is different. You have to experiment to find what works best for you.
Nic from vaping isn't quite proportionate to nic from smoking. From your top post, you know 3mg isn't enough for you. Maybe try 6mg, see if it satisfies, go higher if it doesn't.
