I'm looking to purchase my first rta. I feel a little lost when deciding what to get. I was originally thinking of getting the subtank mini because it seemed like a good option for someone that is new to building. I liked that there were still stock coils I could get just in case. However, when reading people's posts about it, it seems like everyone is talking about how they have to go down in nic with it. Therein lies my problem... I'm already at 6-8 mg. The liquid I prefer only goes down to 8 mg so going lower isn't really an option for me.

Is this going to be true of all RTA's? Or is it going to just depend on the coils that I build? Any suggestions?

It has more to do with the build and the higher nic level. I've been on 6mg for a very long time, and I don't feel different going between tanks and RTA/RDA's.

Same here. I was vaping 12 in clearos, but have been vaping 6 since August. I use 6 in the drippers, too, even lower builds.

I think the Subtank mini is a great choice for a first time builder. Although the RBA build deck is smallish, the design of the head makes it VERY easy to trap the coil leads without them slipping out. It works so well, I imagine we'll see other manufacturers adopt Kanger's design. And of course, you always have the option to use the pre-built OCC heads, so you'll never be without something to vape on. Just make certain you have a mod that will fire "sub ohm" coils, and something that is capable of at least 20-30 Watts.

You'll be fine with the nic. I vape 12mg on the RBA head in mine at 20+ Watts. :)

What are you vaping on now? (atomizer)
I went from Kanger protank to the Kayfun. I might upgrade someday when the Kayfun falls apart. Easy to setup and delivers vape I want.
I learned to rebuild on the protanks. the subtank might work for you. If the ability, but not requirement to rebuild is what you want to do.

There are tons of other juice suppliers out there. What are you using?

I dont doubt you, but that seems odd. the nicotine range standard seems to be 3mg to 24mg and sometimes 0mg. maybe contact the maker of that juice. I'm imagine it wouldnt be a problem at all to order 6mg or whatever you prefer.

First, see if your vendor offers your favorite flavors in 0 nic levels. You can mix 0 and 6 to make 3mg juice. The Humco VG and/or Tractor Supply PG option works to reduce nicotine levels at the expense of flavor loss, since they are just plain glycerin additives.

I'm at 6mg nic on a Kayfun. I vaped 24mg juice for several years and decided to drop down to a lower level a year or two ago. I had settled on 12mg juice for quite a while and had to drop to 6mg juice when I started using the Kayfun 3.1 rebuildable. Even with a single coil and Koh Gen Do cotton it's about twice as efficient as most factory coil heads.
