V,

Sorry it looks like your thread is getting highjacked.

If you are getting a burnt taste out of the package it might be that your are not letting your coils fully wick juice. After loading a new coil set your PV down for a couple minutes or take 3 or 4 pulls off your protank without pressing the power button. This will ensure your coils are wet and the juice has wicked properly.

When I was using Kanger coils out of the package I would get a low load once and a lossen my tank. Never made me happy and normally quickly got pulled and rebuilt.

If the Hubby is handy he can do it. If I can he can......

Know these videos are just a baseline, Rip use's 28 gauge, I use 30 ga. Your husband can pick up Kanthal on ebay, he needs 1 - 1/16 or 5/64 drill bit and an ohm meter.

It may sound like a lot but it's not 100 feet of Kanthal and the ohm meter for under $30. I can recoil a protank in 5 to 10 minutes. It looks tough, it's not.

Your Protanks are good tanks, I have several PT 2's.

I know it sounds like a hassle but it's not once your husband finds his groove and for you the flavor and vapor production will be outstanding.

A Kayfun light with air flow control is real nice too. Much larger than your PT2 but it holds more juice.

I'm a starter myself, last cig on 2/1/14 but I did the research to maximize my success. I know 1/10 of what some folks here know but if I can help have the hubby message me.

You just need to fine tune a couple things and your experience of vaping can go to a much better level. cotton and rebuilds really improve everything about vaping, and factory coils just pain stink and are mostly a PITA.

I hope some of this helps.

I do allow my new coils to wick, I actually replace my coils when I am about to go do something that doesn't allow me to vape, such as take a shower or eat dinner etc..I have mine sit a bit longer at around 20-25 minutes, and I do 2 pulls without firing, and when ready to fire, I drop my wattage to the lowest setting of 3.0 and gradually work my way up. I let everything wick longer as I use mostly VG juice and figured if it is thicker it may need to wick longer. My husband will or should be able to rebuild my coils for me, he drips, and is into the cloud chasing lol so he rebuilds a lot. I appreciate all of the feedback! I will likely see how rebuilding the protank coils will go, and go from there. If all does go well, I really would like an Aspire Nautilus for my Nemy or a pink protank to sit on my rainbow nemy :D

Thank you for all the help! I thoroughly appreciate everyone's help and opinions! And no need to apologize for hijacking my thread, if someone get's help to a problem at my expense, then at least I was able to help in a way lol

I wish my husband would learn to rebuild. I'm jealous. Mine just hands me his Kayfun to rebuild daily. His all day vape is Pink Spot Swagger, the darkest juice I've ever encountered. I spend more time on his one tank then I do on my 7 combined.

I should at least try, it is frustrating for me as I am a stay at home mom who runs her own business from home, and we have 4 children and just found out I am expecting again, so time and patience is extremely limited for me right now. I suck at Ohm's, voltage, wattage etc...and when I start seeing numbers fly, I start tuning it out LOL. Once I start getting to the beached whale phase, I might have a bit more patience to work on rebuilding, but as long as I can tie my own shoes and still chase after the other children, I have MUCH bigger concerns. If my husband couldn't rebuild, I'd likely not be vaping anymore. I sometimes wonder if I even have the patience anymore to keep swapping batteries, refilling, cleaning tanks, coils, etc.....but I think as of right now, it may just be the hormones in overdrive and everything at this point pisses me off :p

HAHAHA....DEF hormones. The whole idea of it with the ohms/resistance and coil ohms blahblah pushed me away from even attempting building coils for so long. But watch one video on YouTube of a coil rebuild and you will definitely say to yourself "I can so do this..." It actually gets fun after a while, and you wind up rebuilding coils that don't even need to be rebuilt lol.

My husband is the stay at home parent dealing with two kids and also trying to run a business on the side. He's a chef, but he's tired of working for other people. He's been trying to get side catering jobs to start his own business.

Things are a bit backwards in my house, and I like it that way. He's a chef by trade, so he does the cooking. This apparently means that I must do the building. He's says he'll learn to build when I learn to cook. I think I'd rather build coils...

I have been doing a bit of reading here lately on rebuildable tank atty's. I have become so sick and tired of buying new coils for my Protank only to find that the brand new coils are either already burnt, or give off a low load reading on my Vamo. I really DO NOT want to start dripping, it's just not for me and I LOVE tanks, however my husband drips, and he can build my coils and rewick anything I buy, so that won't be an issue.

My issue is finding a good RTA, and also some information on good clones? I have been looking at both the Kayfun clone and the R91% clone from Focalecig, but I just don't know if it is a good place to get a clone? I don't have a TON of $$$ laying around for expensive "real" merchandise especially now that I found out I am pregnant. I do have a Nemesis clone on the way so if I cannot use the RTA on my V5 (I don't see why I can't) then I can use it on the Nemy.

My other question which is really a concern would be air flow on an RTA. I absolutely cannot stand an airy draw, there has to be tightness to it, my protank for example is too airy for me, but I use it and deal for the most part. I want something that closely resembles the draw of a real cigarette. I do mouth hit's more than lung hits, so the tightness on the draw has to be there or I just don't feel like I am getting ANYTHING out of my atty's. So any good RTA's with a tighter, less airy draw, that is cheap, reliable, sexy, etc....available on the market and if so, what is it, and how do I get my hands on it?

Thanks

V

I agree with everyone who says that the Kayfun is the way to go. I have a KFL+ by Tobeco, and I love it! I started out like you with a Protank, then I got into rebuilding the coils for them, until I eventually bit the bullet and bought my Kayfun. Now I want two or three more of them! Lol mine has never leaked, and always hits like a champ. Throat hit is just right, and it makes all flavors I've tried better than ever. You really can't go wrong IMHO. I wish I would have saved my time and money and just started with this thing. Oh, and I'm also using it on a Vamo, mine is the V2, but they're all basically the same. I've been looking into a Nemesis like you said you're getting, so if you do decide on the Kayfun, I would love to know how it functions on it!

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I may end up getting the Kayfun Lite clone and the Aqua from Fasttech. My issue with Fasttech is the wait time from the slow boat. I just burnt up another Kanger coil lol. I think it has to do with "owner error" on my Kanger coils, but I'm not sure. Some still taste burnt after being cleaned straight out of the package, and others it takes 2-3 days for me to burn through them.

I vape 70 VG 30 PG most of the time since that is the highest amount of VG I can get from Ahlusion's, but I may end up with 100% VG if I like the flavors from Velvet cloud. I also like my wattage between 4.5-6.0w and I don't think that helps either. I need my Nemy so I have something unregulated and my husband can build me sub ohm coils and I won't have to worry about it anymore. Andria, I don't vape nicotine, since I am officially down to 0mg's now, so I know TH will be pretty low no matter what I vape from. I just don't get the feeling of the vapor building in my mouth as I take a mouth hit, which is what bothers me.

Thanks again for the great suggestions!

V

Do you like, or use, tobacco flavors? Because the Virginia I get from MyFreedomSmokes has excellent TH even at 6mg, of course that's the Pg blend, but there is still some TH even in their 85% VG blend, and it's very tasty. That ejuice, in the VG blend, even with no nicotine, would probably still have some TH if you used it in a kayfun or a dripper. I'm getting downright aggravated with my own dripper, a Caterpillar, because the TH is so in-your-face intense it gives me a coughing fit nearly every time I use it. I really want to keep a dripper handy, a good one I can build coils for, so I can taste new juices easily, but it just about blows me back against the wall -- even with 6mg fruit flavors. :grr:

ROFL!! I do both! All my husband does is eat, and enjoy riding around smoke-free in the truck -- and enjoy not giving Walgreen's $11 every other day for 2 pks of smokes! :D

Absolutely 100% -- in fact my 2nd one, which is actually a clone of a Russian 91%, will be here tomorrow. I foresee many more to follow... the other day, in honor of my 90th day smoke free, I cleaned and put away 4 of my kanger T3S tanks; one is still in use, more or less handy for "emergencies" (likewise the Smok UDCT), and I have a Mini PT II with some apple cinnamon it, and an ARO Pyrex with some pineapple in it, and that pineapple is so yummy I'm thinking my next purchase needs to be a glass tank for the kayfun, so I can vape pineapple and REALLY taste it. :D

Does the box say "Together the Best Corporation" or some such thing? If so, my guess is that that is a Tobecco clone, and I'm not very happy with them at the moment. Over the last two days I've spent hours and hours trying to get my husband's working right. Could have been a dud, and I could excuse one, but mine has some annoyances as well...

No, it's not a Tobecco. It is made by some company called "Seed". It works great, I have had no leaks, or issues with dry hits or flooding. Threads seem smooth. The only thing I did not like was it did not come with the 510 drip tip adapter so you have to use the one that comes with it, or buy an adapter. Also mine was missing the air draw screw, but he sent me one free of charge. For 25.00 you can't beat it. Am very happy with it.

Yea I got my SvoeMesto Kayfun w/AFC in an official box, all the tools hardware, extra parts for everything, a needle tipped fill bottle, and the patented Kayfun Slim drip tip (which gives the best flavor out of any tip I have) all for 29 bucks. Never had an issue, came with both the clear center piece, and the chrome one. Thing is quality, and the best clone I have ever purchased. Just got my Fogger V4 in the mail yesterday, and the thing is also a beast.

Difference is its a dual coil as opposed to the Kayfun single coil, but it is a much tougher build. But all in all, once they are both built together side by side, Fogger V4 makes weather systems that the Kayfun cannot contest to. Both are great though! I took the Kayfun off my mechmod and made a 32guage coil for my Provari. Works well with the vv devices. Fogger is more for a mech or box mod.
