Russian 91% V2 Black Problems

Ok, I took delivery of my second R91, a R91 V2 Black, with the fixed center pin from Mt. Baker. So far, lots of little problems. The most worrying is the jumping resistance. I built it with a 9-wrap, 28AWG, 2.5mm coil that comes out at 1.3 Ohms on a Provari v2.5. Once wicked and juiced (oh, Nicoticket Gravity), the Ohms jump around quite a bit, sometimes up to 3-4 Ohms or more. Lastly, the Provari is throwing lots of E errors, OP, E1, E2, and the mythical E8.

Everything is tight inside the build, but once it's fully built on the Provari, it goes nuts. The center pin (positive pin?) was a bit loose, so I tightened that, but then I got leaking out the air hole. Not a small leak, but pretty much drained the tank in a minute or two. Right, I lifted the coil about 3mm above the air hole. That fixed the leak, but I'm still getting the jumping resistance.

My first R91 V2, also from Mt. Baker with the spring-loaded center pin, doesn't have any of these problems. Otherwise this R91 V2 Black is actually better machined than my first V2, buttery smooth all over.

Suggestions? This thing is far more finicky than my other R91 V2. I'm thinking it's a new relationship, lots of learning at first and then comes the wisdom.

Thanks for reading!

I have one of the first version 2 Russian 91% from this past spring. I swapped out the spring loaded pin with a pin from vapordna. Take a read of this thread. It may give you answers to what is going on with your r91 and how to fix it.

Even after replacing my center pin I am still having some problems with the block getting loose and the pin backing itself out. No problems with the v1 that I have. Hope the link helps you solve the problem.
