I have been having an issue with my Russian (not a clone). It had been working fine for a week or so but suddenly it seems to be shorting out. I build a 1.6 or a 1.8 ohm coil and test it on my ohm meter. Then I screw the deck onto my Provari which reads the same as my ohm meter. I test fire it and it works fine - then screw on the chimney and test fire it again without any problems. Then I screw the body on and suddenly the ohm reading on the Provari is low and it won't fire.
I cut my leads short so they aren't touching anything and I would think firing with the chimney on would catch an issue like that anyway. I've only been building coils for a couple of weeks but this one is baffling me. I've done this 3 times now and am tired of wasting perfectly good juice to diagnose the problem.
Have any of you more experienced folks run into this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thanks for your help.
