and thats stainless.. stainless doesn't rust.
Not entirely true. Stainless steal can rust. And one of the places it likes to rust is the threading of two metal parts. If it was my atty, I'd check the screws and post holes just to be safe.

Now, I have had juices do this if left in a wetted\juiced up atty for a week or two... so that's most likely the issue. But if your seeing the color creeping from the posts down the cotton while in normal use, I'd looking into things just to be safe. Or change juices and coil to see if it still happens. If I took the whole atty apart and inspected it and didn't see any signs of rust, I wouldn't worry about it.

thats kinda gross. You said you been letting it sit for a week? I personally would not vape some juice and cotton that's just been sitting there for a week, thats akin to like dropping a french fry between the car seats then finding it a week later and eating it.

I decided it would be a wonderful idea to vape on a build in my old igo-w that's been sitting for about three months without re wicking or cleaning the coils.

Not my best moment.

If you are truely conserned about rust in your RDA, why would you not totally disassemble it and inspect for the presence of rust before canning the RDA?
And I totally agree with Gummy Bare some types of stainless steel will rust.
If stainless is machined or brushed with ferrous metals there will be transfer and the ferrous metal particles embedded in the SS will rust. 300 series stainless can have a light coating of rust.

Just got a brain storm I wonder if a floor fry would make a good genny wick?
Your juice may make that fry just a lil too soggy! May even cause it to break apart in your juice leaving you with the unannounced, unexpected & uninvited dry I-died-and-went-to-hell hit...............go for it!!! :p

Well its dose not rust or stain with water but it can and will from may other chemicals if I remember right from welding class

Yup, just like "water proof" and "wrinkle free" indicate the item "should" be resilient\resistant to the conditions spelled out in the name; we all know given the write environmental conditions and product quality, one should "never say never".

I had a Kebo Russian %91 rust on me.... my first thought was "it must not be stainless steel". I was wrong.

Some say that to call a Steel Alloy a "Stainless Steel", that it has to have More than 10.5% Chromium and 3.5% Nickel.

But there Isn't any Stainless Steel Police.

oops i misunderstood your question yea I know it had those metals in it and thats what made it stainless. Ive worked with it lots and still do If you know what a huck bolt is we use SS huck bolts on the structures I build now.
When I was a Mill wright in the mid west we used stainless in grain processing and fertilizer plants. I cam accrost it alot in cement plants during turnarounds as a Iron worker.

there are Stainless police they are called inspectors and they test the grade of stainless you are uesing on construction sights especially in water and waste water applications.

Yeah... And that is where the Problem is.

If there Isn't a Recognized Standard for How Much Chromium is in an Alloy to call it "Stainless Steel", then calling something "Stainless" isn't all that Meaningful.

If you look on the back of a Fork and it says "18-8 Stainless", Cool. The fork should have 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel. Good Stuff for Corrosion Resistance.

But if an RDA says it is made from "Stainless", they are not Telling you Much. It could be High Chromium alloy. Or it could be a Junk Alloy that someone made while Looking at a Picture of Chromium.

Wheres mikey when you need him

Hey mikey.............

So how many know what the L means

And ill never forget the first time I ran into deposition corrosion. Used a brass pad on some ss and went why is the stainless turning green ? A few days later.

Nickel is optional. 10.5% of chrome is enough to call stainless "stainless".

If you Don't put any Nickel in a Steel that has 10.5% Chromium, the resulting Alloy is going to be Brittle. And if the Original Steel had more than about .8% Carbon, it is going to be Very Brittle.

BTW - If I have a Steel Alloy that contain 9% Chromium and I call it Stainless, who do I get in Trouble with?

who ever payed you to install it cause you going to pay for any damages incurred and down time to do it right. ;)

all of that knowledge is above my pay grade to much for a knuckle dragger to retain.
