Kanthal has some iron so it could rust actually. Just change the coil and clean the whole thing. It could just be the juice too though
This. Not entirely true. Stainless steal can rust. And one of the places it likes to rust is the threading of two metal parts. If it was my atty, I'd check the screws and post holes just to be safe.
Now, I have had juices do this if left in a wetted\juiced up atty for a week or two... so that's most likely the issue. But if your seeing the color creeping from the posts down the cotton while in normal use, I'd looking into things just to be safe. Or change juices and coil to see if it still happens. If I took the whole atty apart and inspected it and didn't see any signs of rust, I wouldn't worry about it.
Pffft...Your juice may make that fry just a lil too soggy! May even cause it to break apart in your juice leaving you with the unannounced, unexpected & uninvited dry I-died-and-went-to-hell hit...............go for it!!! [emoji14]

Fun to do when nobody's looking but everybody gets to see the results and wonder?See? Doubting ZoiD is like ...... into a fan.
I believe the conversation was about thickness, though.I've got a lot of experience working with 1/2" stuff...

There is no steel best for everything. The same true for atties.
Cannot agree here. 440 is a great choice for surgical (and other) blades, it is even called "surgical steel". High carbon helps it to be a good martensitic steel.

Do I see a fellow metallurgist here?
I've been a metallurgist for more than 10 years (research, manufacture, failure analysis), but now I am in a biomedical field (life can make surprises...)
But what about an Atomizer? What is the Single Greatest Factor that goes into the Choice of a Metallic Alloy? I would think it would be that it Doesn't "Rust" of exhibited Corrosion/Decomposition while in contact with e-Liquids.
Most (just about All) Stainless Steels with satisfy the Requirements of an Atomizer with regards to Physical Durability, Appearance, Fabrication, Cost, Electrical/Magnetic Properties, etc. But some Stainless Steels have Superior "Rust" and Corrosion properties.
You could get some g-plat wire... it's supposed to be 317L stainless steel annealed welding wire.Kanthal has some iron so it could rust actually. Just change the coil and clean the whole thing. It could just be the juice too though
Clean it out and inspect it if its rusting you will see the stains in the grains of metal. Stainless does get surface rust if its poor quality but i doubt its that. If nothing there then its prolly just the juice doing its thing as it sits.this has been sitting for 1 week untouched because i noticed my cotton was turning red even though my juice was transparent . Is there anything i can do about it or throw it in the garbage ?
My wand from Mark buggs is Titanium It works well but Ti transfers heat pretty quicklyI wonder how much a nice RDA made from Ti6Al4V would cost.... it's a titanium alloy that far more stronger and rust resistant. But it's pricey, not sure how pricey. But I'd love to have a few attys made of it. Not sure how well it conducts compared to something like 316L.
