Yeah, I agree about the rayon working great in the kayfun. Been using it ever since I got the rayon.....and thanks a bunch to the person who sent it to me!! Just got around to using in the Sabot and loving it so far. Just got through chain vaping about a quarter tank. Also tried it on my spheroid but had less than spectacular results for some reason. But I switch to SS mesh on the spheroid and love it. May try the rayon on it again sometime soon. As for now, really enjoying it on everything else. Oh, and I took a pretty large tuft of rayon, split it and put one through the coil and one on top. Tried to vape it, but the airflow was obstructed. I should have known better. Anyway, removed about half the flavor wick and it works perfect. What happens if you put too much flavor wick, the sabot top cup smashes it down which spreads it into the airway, blocking flow. Same thing can happen with the yarn.

Anyway, glad I tried it as it really is an improvement so far. But it does shrink some after wetting. As Whodothscuaba pointed out, you need to use more. I didn't quite use double, but if you include the flavor wick, I guess it was pretty close.

Rayon? That was from like - THIS MORNING! C'mon, stay with the program.

I've actually been thinking about experimenting with some double-knit polyester. In your leisure, check it out.

So, I've been using the cellucotton in the billet box and it's pretty good. It does seem to have a shorter break-in period .The flavor seems about the same to me and it seems you would need to use a bit more of it or pack it tighter into the coil to keep the sabot from flooding, because of how well it wicks. The jury is still out for me as I have not had a chance to try the s&c yarn yet and I like the idea of being able to regulate the wick going by per strand increments rather than a little more or a little less guessitmations with cotton and celucotton.

ikbtops you just nailed it! S&C yarn makes it so easy to build consistent wicks every time. Loose cotton and rayon are a feel thing that I get right about 25% of the time. Need to come up with a gauge of some kind to measure the perfect wick repeatedly. Rayon yarn hunt is on.

OK, reporting in on my so far experience with the Sabot-DDD. Here goes:

First time setup, used stock ARO. Worked well but had to do some juice pulls every once and a while to get rid of the dry hits I was getting.

Second setup, used stock ARO with flavor wicks removed. Bad idea lol. Had juice flooding and leaking out like mad

Third setup, Stock ARO with Koh Gen Do cotton flavor wick. Was a much better experience tho I was still getting dry hits(this could have been me using too much KGD for the flavor wick)

Fourth setup, Rebuilt coil = 32awg 9-10 wraps 1.78mm(3.1ohms) and Koh Gen Do cotton wick, no flavor wick. Awesome vape :) no dry hits and great flavor & vapor IMO but still with some flaws. Once the tank gets to about 1/4 or 1/5 of its capacity it floods and some E-liquid does leak out into the BB. Also it seems to make my juice get dark and happens rather quick. I use 6mg nic and sometimes I chain vape but not usually with the BB as I tend to use it for work and have other devices for home.

5th and 6th setups, Basically the same as above give or take a .01ohm. Still have same problems with flooding and leakage at about the 1/4-1/5 level of juice. Have tried using more and more cotton in the builds but same results. The juice darkening problem still persists as well. With 3 different juices all 6mg nic all 3 will get darker, to the point of needing to empty the tank before a refill because it gets so dark and sludgy

My next test is gonna be with some of the 1 million organic cotton balls I ordered before I found the Koh Gen Do  not sure how well it will work tho since I love the better flavor of the KGD cotton so much more than the cotton balls. Was also thinking of using some of the smaller kathal ribbon wire I have but not sure I will reach an acceptable ohm level given the limited space in the ARO head.

If anyone has any suggestions on getting rid of the juice darkening I would be happy to hear them too :) cause I hate wasting the juice that gets dark, and also its sort of a P.I.T.A. to have to have to empty, clean the tank, and rewick the coil every day(I know I'm lazy)

Ohh and has anyone had a problem with their BB not firing with Sabot-DDD in it? I get it sometimes where it will not fire unless I take the tank out completely then reseat the tank and screw the brass ring down really tight., but it could be that I have a fairly beat up Rev1.1 BB. Just figured I would ask.

Flooding at the 1/4 level happens because there is not enough vacuum left in the tank to ...... the juice flow. This is magnified if there is any air leakage from the tank at all, and is rather common with clear faced tanks. I have proved this to myself by taking a half full tank, placing it on the counter ball side down (on edge), and there will be juice leakage from the tank overnight.

I can usually vape a tank dry if I'm using it in my normal chain vape mode, but if left alone for an extended period of time near empty, the only way to prevent leakage is to place the BB down sideways, tip side up so that juice is no longer in contact with the wicks. Simple remedy is to refill when 2/3rds empty.

Darkened juice is simply caramelized residue being transferred back from the wick to the juice. Tends to happen more if your setup is also tending to flood. Of course, some juices tend to darken much quicker than others. I have some juices that do not darken even after multiple tanks, and some, particularly Boba's Bounty that I try to clean out after no more than 2 tankfulls.

Oh and don't forget the AFC setting also fine tunes your juice flow. More air=less juice to the wick. Tighter draw=more juice.

IDK about the intermittent connection. Try a different head, or maybe try removing tha AFC ring to determine if perhaps it is shorting to positive.

Oh and one trick for "de-flooding" a coil is to thermometer shake it such that any excess juice is expelled from the top. Occasionally have to do this if I have left a partial filled tank sit for an extended time. Is standard procedure for me after re-filling.

Have to run...hope this helps!

This is Sticky material, D - thank you. And would be well shared with the regular BB thread too. The issues you address here one those that at least some of us are having regularly, particularly with any of the non-carto options.

Like you, I usually fill up at about 50%. I find that keeps things dry back there. But I have slipped up and not made it, resulting in some serious clean-up requirements on the back-end (so to speak).
