Okay all you wonderful people. I have a problem.
One of my Sabots is stuck in a BB tank. It's time to change the coil and I really can't get it out. I used the black tool that came with it. No luck. I tried putting it on the edge of a counter and pushing down really hard. Nope. Stuck it in the freezer. It won't move.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just find sometimes I have to push really hard to get it moving.

Try working a little juice into the o-rings from the outside. Then do the counter push again. Not sure what end you are pushing, but try the AFC end and push against the ARO contact point. That end has more room to travel. Once started the pusher tool should finish the job. It has a divot on one end for the AFC end of the Sabot. Keeping those o-rings lubed is something good to do at coil changing time.

I finally got a chance to use the Sabot and it is performing amazingly! I used 9 wraps of 30 gauge around a toothpick with a single cotton wick pulled through. It's doing great the whole billet box range from IV to V.50. Will an extra wick on top bring out more flavor? Will unscrewing the air control increase air flow but reduce juice flow?

Just thought I'd share my experience with the Sabot DDD so far, which is so far kind of mixed, but overall very good with a very good prognosis for the long run.

Design and build-wise, it's fantastic. I've got one that seems a little "sticky" on the threading for the air control, but that will probably work out over time.

Performance wise, I've tried it with a few configurations:
- Stock ARO coil and wick with P&C flavor wick;
- Stock ARO coil with Shiseido cotton wick & flavor wick;
- Rebuilt coils (9, 10 and 11 wraps) with P&C wick & flavor wick (4 strand wick, 1-3 strand flavor wicks)

All produce ... well, adequate vapor. None has so far blown me away with any more vapor that I'd get from a cartomizer.

All produce pretty good flavor. At least as as good as or even slightly better than a fresh carto.
To be fair, so far all I've used are the batches of liquid I made before my vacation, which may or may not be up to par flavor-wise.

Various wick configurations make a difference, but I'm leaning toward more flavor wicks rather than less. Seems to cut down on dry hits for me.

What does blow me away is how long these ARO heads are lasting. Normally with a carto I'm itching to change it out after 2-4 days.
So far no ARO build (even stock) has just flat-out failed to perform or gotten so bad that it just had to be changed or rebuilt. The only reason I've changed them at all is to experiment.
In fact, one stock head with two P&C flavor wicks has been going for about 9 days and I don't know how many tanks now, with no appreciable change in performance.

I'm assuming that some little tweak of build is probably going to get me "there" as far as vapor and flavor go.
But even if it doesn't, these will ultimately be time & money savers just for lasting so flippin' long.

I am still in experimental mode myself. Going to try some different things today. Currently have only tried the factory coil, fact coil with cotton flavor wicks and homebuilt coil (32 gauge, 3 ohm, 2mm wrap). They all gave me excellent vapor production, but some were less flavorful than others. I would certainly try 2 to 3 cotton yarn to help flavor. The trick to keeping everything leak free and transfer juice into the unit is to fluff the ends of the cotton where it leaves the ARO slots.

As for air flow. The more open the unit is (thumb wheel spun all the way up against the bottom of the Sabot) the less draw on the juice. Restricting the air flow (spinning the thumbwheel away from Sabot) will pull more juice out. But never spin it so far down where there is potential for it to short on the positive contact of the BB.

I have to wonder if it isn't that juice as I get a ton of vapor with just about all my setups. But using 32 gauge yields the highest vapor production of any I have tried. But like I mentioned in the last post, experimenting now.....along with smoking a nice rack of ribs.

OK, figured I would go ahead and bring this up. Apparently this Rayon cellulose is all the rage right now for using as wicks. There is a huge thread on it already, so please go there if you have any concerns or questions as there is no point retyping all that.

Anyway, I have been using it for about a week or two and so far impressed. It does have an off flavor to me for a few minutes of vaping when it is new, but goes away quickly. Why am I even bothering with it? Because the one quality I love about it is the super fast wicking ability of it. I think this might solve a ton of Diver users headaches. About to put on in my Sabot and try it out. So will post back in a little while after I have had a chance to evaluate.

Sounds like another convert!
I had a friend give me some cellulo-cotton rayon about a week ago to try. I have been researching it for awhile and have been using it in the Sabot-DDD for the last week. Wicks better than cotton and has less taste effects than cotton after the first 3 or 4 hits. Using about twice the amount I used for cotton through the coil and 1 small/ thin flavor wick on top. After 3 tanks pulled the sabot out, rinsed wicks, coil was clean so stuffed it back in the tank and vaped a fourth tank - still good. Man this stuff really wicks well.

Didn't even think about the DiverV2! Thanks a lot D_J, now I have to fiddle with them again!

Well, I was using hemp wick and flavor wick and I really like hemp and was having no issues. Then I tried hemp as wick and 2 strands then 3 then 4 s&c yarn and was having leaking issues with the yarn (even after fluffing the edges). That is when I decided to try the Rayon since it was working so well in the Russian. Kinda early to really tell but so far so good with the Rayon in the sabot.

You need any XXL's??? I can't even remember why I had those... :confused:

Are we talking SHIRTS or cartos? WHAT THE HECK IS A XXL??? :)

Cartomizers are so last decade:facepalm:
C'mon DP admit it. After the Sabot, carto's are just emergency back up now!:p

Not giving mine up just yet, but maybe soon.:D

Truth? Nope. I still use them. I've three tanks going. One Sabot, with one juice, a 2nd Bridge, with another juice, and yes, a 3rd with a carto and 3rd juice. And I use them all fairly equally, believe it or not.

Variety IS, after all, the v-liquid of life. Or sumpin' like that-there. :blink:
