Sadly it's tax time

I went to do my youngest son's taxes using tax act which I've used for the last couple of years and now they want to charge to file our taxes. While $12.95 may not seem like much to most people, when you're on a fixed income it means quite a bit.

Anyone know of a good, reputable, FREE tax program?

Can't you to go to the IRS site and do it for free?(Not sure on this one)

Also, check with your local county government. Many times they offer free preparation. Don't know if you'll find a computer program for free...........

Thanks ELendil. I didn't think of looking on the IRS site. Hell, they always want money so I guessed they wouldn't have anything for free,lol

Also if you can file a 1040ez Federal form you can do it online for free at turbotaxes site.

The IRS has dozens of links to sites that will efile for you free if you qualify. There are income restrictions but it's pretty much free for anyone who is in the working class. Thats fed only though. They all charge for state.

941 quarterly
940 annual (fed unemployment)
W2,3 preparation
Property tax
Personal prop tax (to city)
ST-12 State sales tax collection
WT-6 State quarterly income tax
WT-7 State annual reconciliation of above
UCT quarterly payment to State dept of unemployment
Form 1099 send out and receive

I'm probably forgetting some (the various governments WILL remind me)

The above list is because we own our own business - haven't even started with the Personal income tax preparation which will involved MORE forms and MORE publications.
