Hey guys. Iv got some vtc5 for my ipv mini 2 for if I ever wanna go down to the .2 range my mod will allow. However, I hardly ever go that low but mostly stay at the .4 or .5 range. I'm wanting better batter life than the 2600 mah vtc5 and I feel like it's a little over kill being 30A at only .4 or .5 ohms at 40 watts. Is there a better alternative battery for me that offers better battery life that will still be safe for my needs? Please help! Thanks!

Probably not, sorry. That's about the best battery life you will get from a single 18650. A dual battery mod would be the best upgrade for longer life.
This. :thumb:

With lithium batteries, you get either a lot of capacity (mAh)(ICR chemistry) for longer use between charges, or a lot of amps (high drain burst)(IMR Li-Mn). If using sub ohm builds you NEED IMR high drain batteries, and the 2500 mAh 30 amp continuous Sony VTC5 are the top dog here.

Samsung 25R and LG HE2 are both 2500 mAh and 20 amps continuous, good to about 0.4 ohm coils. Any battery with more mAh than 2500 is likely not a high drain battery and dangerous to use in a mod.

I am not familiar with the Imren batteries, but the specs seem either revolutionary or fake. Capacity and drain counteract each other in any other battery i have seen.
You can have either capacity or high drain, but never both.

If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is. I would rather err on the side of caution.

In most everyone's opinion, the sony VTC5's are the best on the market. I, however, think sony discontinued them (for some reason) and now they are getting more rare and more pricey. feel lucky that you got some before they go from nice batteries to luxury batteries. as far as the original post is concerned, you have IMHO the best batteries available. Try upgrading to a dual 18650 box mod for maximum vape to charge ratio. Hope this helps!

Hi spears and welcome to ECF.

The ipv mini 2 is a VW mod that has a range of 5-70 watts. The battery doesn't care what the atty resistance is, if you set 50 watts the battery will see the same current draw at 2.0 ohms as at 0.3 ohms. For battery draw, it's all about the watts you're vaping at.

AFAIK, if you have VTC5's they are the best performing batts at 70 watts you can get right now and the only ones that are rated for the amp draw they will see. I don't know of any suppliers that sell authentic VTC5's now, so if you bought yours in the last couple of months they are IMO probably counterfeits.

At 40 watts the LG HE2 and the Samsung 25R rated 20 amps continuous, are very close in performance to the VTC5's, they're rated for the amp draw they'll see and it's easy to find authentics.

The reason I was asking is because I seen these imren 3100 mah high drain bats & they say they are perfect for a mech mod.. would those be ok?

No, they are not OK. I have not seen any data on how these perform, but I know they are either lower than 3100 mAh, or they are not rated for more than 7 amps.

With the possibility that they are only 7A batts, I would not use them in a mod that draws 24A at 70 watts.

The samsung 25r, as far as I know, is the best 18650 for battery life that can go safely to about .5. Also, in my experience builds this low are going to drain your batteries pretty fast no matter what you do. If you're on regulated and want good battery life just build your coils a little higher. Sub ohm for me is usually done out of necessity to get a good vape on a mech, but not needed on a regulated, I avoid sub ohming on my box mod for that reason (want my batteries to last), one 18650 can go a very long ways if you just build higher. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm missing something here.

EDIT: Here's a good post I found on the forum that goes into more details of what I'm talking about: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...7-resistance-voltage-better-battery-life.html

Haven't the Panasonic NCR 18650 pd and/or pf batteries 2900 mAh capacity? For builds as low as 0.42 they're marginal, as that's really on the edge of their discharge rating, but within spec. At 0.5 I have had noticeably better vape time from my pd batts than from my vtc4 batts.
