I tried using the Saphires on my Darwin and always start low on the power and slowly raise it depending on how the carto/Saphire is performing. I had to send my Darwin back for repairs and it was updated with all the fixes the new ones have including a 510-510 extender screwed down tightly onto the brass adapter. Since this 510-510 extender only had 2 slots I removed it and purchased one with 4 slots so it would be a true Joyce 510 battery connection. I made sure the vent hole on the Saphire was lined up in one of the slots on the 510 extender. I took slow easy drags. I have 3 boxes of them and not 1 of them works well enough to use. I have tried different VG/PG ratios since I mix my own juice. I am currently using 25% VG/75% PG so the juice should be plenty thin to wick. I hope the newest Saphires that are coming in will be fixed but I won't purchase any until I get some working replacements for the ones I have. I can't afford to throw away money. Honestly the ones that were sold when they were 1st released are better than these.

For those that are loving the Saphires what % VG/PG are you using? What device are you using? If variable what V or W do you have your device set at? Do you chain vape or just take a few draws and put it down? Perhaps with the answers to these questions people that are having issues with the Saphires can duplicate what those people that are loving the Saphires are doing to change their bad experience into a better one.

You should ALWAYS start low if you are using these on a HV PV....we suugest to start at around 4.2 and then work up...we had these specifically made for us for those muscled Americans who love their HV vaping (in China they don't quite understand all the HV appeal). (so thank you mwa for your common sense caveat on this, why I quoted you)

So we got 3.0-3.2 but don't AUTMATICALLY start at 5.2v...YMMV on any of this...on some PV's you could have issues at 5.0v or higher, all of this can be trial an error.

emonty--would you do me a favor and dial it down dude?

the third one I dialed down, same issues, horrible taste...

I think Danno was referring to the 'reverse enthusiasm' :2c:
:toast:

They weren't my cup o tea either, but that's why I buy ONE tester before I bet all my chips. But I'm sure that being in the Netherlands makes that really hard to do! It probably takes weeks to get stuff from the States... Trial and error (mostly error) will get us all the perfect vape, eventually.

mod: lost in translation lol

so i got one box of these to test and they work fine for me but i did start them off on an ego battery. on my provari they ohm out at 2.5 (i ordered 3 ohm so i was surprised they ohmed at 2.5) and it seems to fry to juice above 4.4 volts (with the exception of my 2.2 ohm ego-t every atty i use that ohms at less than 3 will fry this juice of mine above 4.4v). it is a 70PG/30VG and it seems the thinner the juice is the better it wicks (got some joyetech 80/20 menthol which is pretty yummy). taste is fine at 4.4v and below though.

my question is in regards to cleaning: is it as easy as a CE3 to take apart (aka pull the top off then rinse and dry burn)

personally i am very satisfied with this product: doesn't fry the juice like a CE2 does.

I'm sorry to hear that you guys are having so many problems. Here are some tips I've found:

In the original sapphire video Badkolo says to prime the unit by taking a few puffs without the button on. I like to breathe in and out several times so that a few bubbles come up from the wick. I use 100% VG for what it's worth and the low ohm versions on a 3.7V GLV2mini (which only has the two holes and I don't bother to try and line them up). They do taste burnt if you don't prime it first and get juice into the coil.

If you're flooding them in my experience this happens when they're filled incorrectly. You can't press the fill nipple against the body and squeeze, it will pressurize the compartment and force the fluid past the wick. This wasn't a problem, actually almost a good thing to flood them, with the old Sapphires but it seems to really hurt the new ones. You should only have the nipple outlet inside the tube when filling; don't press the nipple against the top so that it makes a seal

I hope you guys have better luck and can start enjoying them like I do

just be a little patient, we arent ordering 300 peaces, so when we order as we do it takes alittle longer, also the fixes are important and take time, as you can see we arent rushing it, we are taking our time with many new products in making massive improvements and they will start rolling out soon enough once they arrive.

when you all see what we are working on for your vaping needs , when you see the improvements on our main product lines, youl all be MORE then amazed.

I would like the answers to these questions too.

My Saphires are working well.

I use 2 or 3 different PV's with different setups. 510-T on a eGo-T 900mah; Mega Smartcart 2.0 on a 650mah eGo, Saphire on a 650mah eGo (or eGo-T battery). Sometimes I like to throw into the mix another 1 or 2 PV setups. I give them all a toot in mixed rotation. They all have different flavours of course.

For the saphires . . . .

** PG/VG Ratios vary - mainly 70pg/30vg but trying 50/50 also at the moment.

** I use 650mah ego and ego-t (regular) batteries mainly;
** Also trying my VGO 1300mah 4.2v with no problems and big big vapour using 50/50 juice. mmm.

** I chain vape but only take small drags (like cigarette drag not straight to lung drag). I will take up to 8 separate tokes before changing PV's over.

The flavours I am using at the moment are fairly clear, fruity flavours and menthols. Don't know if it makes a difference though.

N O T E: I have changed the wick on the two I have in rotation twice in the 5 weeks. Think I've got it right this time. I use a cleaned CE2 wick (thin - not thick) and a sliver of ptb. Not leaking, not gurgling, wicking wonderfully, a nice little bubble rises after (almost) every toke. I won't open the plug until it's empty. When I refill, while the plug is out, I run a pipe cleaner down the air tube to clear out the accumulated condensation/water droplets. If you do this with the plug in and juice still in the tank you can siphon the juice up the air tube and flood the atty.

I think the Saphire has been without a doubt the easiest of atties to clean and maintain, and to rebuild. And I'm pretty ham fisted and have bad eyesight  , yet I still manage a clean, dry burn and wick change in under 5 minutes.

Hope this helps.

I ordered a sapphire kit 10/8/11 or so. I got 3 atomizer carts with the kit. They all have had the burned taste (I am using the batteries they come with). Juice type = anywhere from 100% PG to 100% VG. Doesn't matter, they taste burned. Disappointed, as I like the form factor & the pencap idea.

I've been avoiding using the sapphire as the taste is so bad, but today I thought I'd give the last new Sapphire (unopened) a shot. I checked the ohms on a brand new sapphire from that kit on a Provari, it is 2.3 ohm. It still tastes burned. I have 50-50 PG/VG in it.

These things are so easy a caveman can do them, if you get the burnt taste it's only the wick, I take about a 2inch piece of the wicking material that I got from one of my re-buildable Atty's that I wont say in the Gotvapes thread but it's the same wick used in CE2's lets say, the thinner wick though not the new fat stuff, take about a 2" piece of it and fold the two cut ends together, carefully turn it through the hole where the wick goes so most of it is up in the tank and so the looped end is hanging out about half way though the hole or little bit of tubes end so you have a "U", so the closed end is hitting the heating wire and laying on the cup and wire when you slide the Atty part back on so again the "U" the loop is hitting the heating element in the cup, and wala DONE ! You can rebuild these Sapphires as many times as you want and they last for what seems like forever now. Very simple and very effective !!! You cant expect a wick in anything to last forever, they need to be replaced if and when they get burnt.!

Edit ; You can do this with whichever wick material you like to use best, I also have found that this "U" shape piece I've been using is working very well allowing the right amount of liquid to the heating element in the cup not allowing any dry hits.

Today I received replacement Sapphires from Chris, I very much appreciate it. The one's I have received are ~2.5 ohm as opposed to the one's I had and did not work (they were 3 ohm). Loaded one up and yes, it works, no burning, as advertised it works!! So I am happy again, they are not my all day items but they perform just fine. Vapor is good, taste is a little muted if I compare it to dripping, but I expected that, it is fine. Again thank you Chris for taking care of it!!!
