Hello,
First off its s ranger not sr "anger", some people in other places don't see it and ask "why so angry?", usually not a good starting point. Also I'm not a very good writer, so if this seems garbled up sorry in advance.
That out of the way on to some questions/advice seeking.
I finally decided to switch from "analogs", still trying to rap my head around that term. So I looked around and bought a starter kit that I'm just not happy with. With out getting into who's kit, I don't want my first post to be filled with "That brand sucks" commentary, the kit appears to be a m403 with an auto battery and four hole atty.
I'm not thrilled with it , but before asking about other options, I have a few questions/comments/concernsabout vaping.
1. Does it always have the fog machine undertone?
2. I'm getting OK volumes of vapor, but it doesn't seem as satisfying as an analog, I normally smoke Marlboro Lights and the smoke just seems "thicker". I am using 18mg carts.
3. The hits seem to be very inconsistent, even on th the same cartridge, within seconds of each other. I know to use a primer draw(?) then a long slow draw, which is how I normally smoke anyway(except the primer).
I know there's more but I can't think of it. Is it because of it being a m40x, prefilled carts, a combo of both? Is that the way vaping goes? I understand its not burning leaves, but it could be thicker.
I would like to try others but don't want to spend the money with put some input. Looking at either a V4L or Bloog, I like the kr8 cigarette look with the prefilled cartomizer. Or an eGo, and the 510 stuff seems fairly well appraised. Also, I thought an auto battery would be for me, but I work in a noisy environment(machine shop), and I could smell when the e-cig was running without me. So I either need a manual, PCC, multiple batteries, or an auto that doesn't react to 100+ decibels in a case in my pocket.o
Any help would be appreciated, and thanks for reading.

Yes. Probably because it is like fog and the PG used in the juice is also used in fog machines. It's vapor, not smoke.

2. I'm getting OK volumes of vapor, but it doesn't seem as satisfying as an analog, I normally smoke Marlboro Lights and the smoke just seems "thicker". I am using 18mg carts.

This is more than likely for the following reasons:
Nicotine uptake when vaping is slower and smoother than when smoking.
Vaping doesn't have all the other chemicals found in cigarettes. You're still going to go through some withdrawal because now you're only getting the nicotine.
You might need to bump your nicotine level up for a while, especially if you're still craving cigarettes.

3. The hits seem to be very inconsistent, even on th the same cartridge, within seconds of each other. I know to use a primer draw(?) then a long slow draw, which is how I normally smoke anyway(except the primer).

If your using an automatic e-cig, then that's probably a big part of the reason for the inconsistency. The type of e-cig you have is also a very big reason. Manual batteries don't suffer from this because they're activated immediately when you press the button. Auto batteries need to have the primer puffs. It sounds like the e-cig you bought is using the older automatic activation, which could also go off because of wind or loud sounds. Not good. Manuals won't do that, either.

If you smoked half a pack or less then I suggest getting the KR808. If you smoked a pack or more per day, then you would probably be best off with either a Riva or an eGo.

I think the lack of vapor and the inconsistency are both attributed to your hardware. I, too, would recommend either the KR808 or (my favorite) the eGo or Riva. With the eGo or Riva, I get tons of thick vapor. Also, your juice has a lot to do with the flavor and with the amount of vapor you get. More VG in your juice will make more vapor; more PG will give you more throat hit. It's hard to know what to recommend, but either of these kits will give you a better (IMO) experience than the kit you have.
