Hi. I'm a 43 year old male. A little over a month ago i was placed in an ambulance and taken to the hospital with chest pains. This is the second time this has happened to me. After all the tests were ran, it turned out to be a nerve problem and i'm getting all the appropriate care. I am fine. However......after 10 hours in the hospital my ex who is a member of this forum came into my room with her Provari E Cig which she handed to me. I took a hit and immediately felt the nic fit i was having disappear. I told everyone in the room that i would make them no promises, but i would try to quit smoking and switch to e cigs. Considering the circumstance, what did i have to lose. That was Aug 2, 2011. I smoked 1/2 an analog upon discharge and 1/2 an analog the following night. And that was it. None since. I've had several followups with my physician who, without knowing why for the first two visits , was noting that my blood pressure has dropped and the wheezing she could hear in my lungs all the time had disappeared. But that's not the best news.

My mother happened to be in that room when this incident occurred. She's a 30 year smoker with emphysema. She switched to ecigs the next day. In a little over a month's time, the change in her has been amazing. She is so happy. She can breathe again. The strength in her voice is coming back. She not only has stopped coughing up blood, she's stopped coughing altogether. So whatever joy i have gotten from switching myself, has been overshadowed by the amazing transformation in my mother.

This decision was the best one i have ever made.

Your story gave me goosebumps and tears... and I've read a few. Hope you and your mom are healing quickly. When I called the CraigsList ad about an ecig that a college student had for sale, he said the same words you wrote today, "It's the best decision I've ever made it my life".

What a moving story. I hope you tell it again and again. It will change lives for the better. Thanks for sharing. Be well.

I was gonna write so many things about how your story really touched me.
Saddened me a bit, because I got to thinking about loved ones lost to smoking related illnesses and how they could have benefited from PVs if only they had been invented sooner.
I don't know you guys, but I am so happy you guys embraced the ecig lifestyle and are much healthier because of it!
I lack the writing skills to express my feelings right now, but IMHO WomanOfHeart expressed it best:
Aw hell yeah!

Dreamborn, you just brought tears to my eyes. Mind you, I'm an Italian and cry over stuff like this, anyway, but I rarely get teared-up on ECF. ;)

PLEASE seek out these forums for guidance and don't get discouraged if you hit some road blocks. The people here are so supportive and amazing. I smoked for 16 years (I'm 36) and never even attempted to quit until my e-cig came in the mail over a year ago. I've been smoke-free since, but couldn't have done it without the people on these forums.

I wish you the very best and please don't hesitate to ask questions! We're all here to help! :)
