has anyone had problems with the flavorings ruining attys. I really want to start DIY juice but I read somewhere on here that using the flavoring can ruin equipment.
Loranns flavorings should not cause you any issues, however, I would suggest you refer to this chart to identify which are considered safe for use.
Most people prefer the flavorings without coloring added to it, also oil based flavorings will not work (not water soluble). Stick to this chart and you should have no problems.

I'm confused, I bought some butterscotch today, and it seemed to work fine. According to the chart, it isnt? Please explain, and if I should stop using it....

You are speaking of Diacetyl which has been found to cause a lung disease if inhaled over a long period of time. In another thread just below this one I provided a link where several folks emailed LorAnn's asking about the presence of this substance in their product. LorAnn's indicated that Diacetyl is not present in any of their products. I am just reporting what I heard from others and have not tried contacting them myself.
LorAnn's butterscotch flavor is water soluble so I am not sure of the issue unless the chart was also concerned about Diacetyl.
Personally I find that there are enough other flavors that I just avoid the buttery ones regardless of what is claimed.

If you look at the chart you are referring to, it shows that the butterscotch contains caramel colouring and has an 'x' in the column re colours. Many people try to avoid strong colourings in general, but caramel in particular, but, just like everything else with this hobby of ours, it's all 'best guess' and up to you.
