I think that if a large enough percentage of people switch from smoking to vaping and the government (local-state-federal), Big Tobacco and Big Pharma feel the $$ pinch, their lobbyists will work hard to get e-cigs banned. I think they're already doing this, likely basing their strategy on the belief that smokers need their nicotine and will go back to cigarettes if they can't vape.

If a *really* large percentage of smokers switch to vaping, the government may suddenly discover that vaping is a virtue because they will want [and need] the tax revenue. We'll see the taxes glommed on till vaping is as costly as smoking.

Either way, we lose. I'm stocking up. I'm also taking notes and will vote against ANY incumbent who is anti-vaping.

I agree, plus right now the states are losing tax revenue from all the vaping and I think they see it catching on. Easiest thing to do is get rid of it now and keep us on the cigs. They've lost a lot from me just in the past 4 months. I'm giving up a 38 year habit and so are a lot of other people. This is going to start hitting the state and federal coffers as well.

I wonder just how many people really are vaping? I know it's growing literally by the second out there.

A woman today told me that my egic was gonna give me cancer and to get freaking accupuncture to stop smoking. ROTFLMFAO Eh, yeah, right.

They can ban it until further study if they conclude it's a medication delivery device.

if e-cigs are medication delivery devices than so are analogs. 8-o

This is utter horse...... It really disgusts me. They claim they aren't studied enough? Fine. Analyze what's in them. You can't allow analogs and then disallow something like ecigs that are a million times healthier for people.

Oh, and the bs claim they're using about diethylene glycol being a reason to ban? Yes, it's a chemical found in antifreeze. It's also a chemical used in deoderant, lotions and various other products that are used all the time.

Oh, and the damaging effects of diethylene glycol? Inhalation is very benign. They negative effects of diethylene glycol are almost exclusively when consumed through the gastrointestinal system. While we call our nicotine refill liquid "juice", I'm pretty sure none of us are actually drinking the stuff.

This is a subject that I take very seriously. I've only been vaping for about 3 weeks now, but I consider it vastly superior to smoking cigarettes. I don't want to give it up.

The government and FDA will want their piece of the pie. Big tobacco will probably lobby to ban ecigs, even though they should have been pioneering this technology to improve their customers lives, company image, and profit at the same time.

According to cancer.org:
Each year, a staggering 440,000 people die in the US from tobacco use. Nearly 1 of every 5 deaths is related to smoking. Cigarettes kill more Americans than alcohol, car accidents, suicide, AIDS, homicide, and illegal drugs combined.

The FDA should be doing all that it can to get quality ecigs and juice to all smokers! That is, if the agency were based on helping people be healthier instead of doing whatever the dollars tell them to.

I don't really trust the government or FDA. I don't want them making decisions for me when those decisions affect me, and only me. I've been stocking up on flavors and 100mg/ml juice. I'm close to having a year's supply... just need to stock up on carts and flavors I cannot reproduce.

I hope V4L does come out with a mod that uses standard AA batteries or those sweet LiFePo4 batteries. I would be all over those.

We need to send our smoking president a good start up kit!! Or if anything a lot of letters. My parents have been heavily involved in politics my whole life. To the point of embarrassment... lol

Even though I know calling your congressmen/women and sending letters sounds moot. A lot of times the squeaky DOES get the grease.

This could definitely be a bipartisan issue. Both democrats and republicans smoke or have family that smoke. My parents are extremely religious conservative republicans. They do seem concerned about the safety of my VP... but... they are also so happy to see me quit and I know they think the gov. is more involved in our daily lives then it should be already.

Of course it doesn't hurt to get your family doctor a believer also ;)

He's been given at least 2 kits by congressmen/senators...and unfortunately thats about the only way that a kit would actually get to him..unsolicited mail containing batteries and unknown liquid would likely result in the package being destroyed and someone getting a visit from the secret service.

The way I look at the worst case scenario:
The batteries cannot be made illegal.
The atomizers - same again.
PG/VG - as mentioned this has been available before ecigs and will be available after it.
Flavours - as above.
The sticking point for most people is the nicotine, however, consider what we've all read/heard of by now: nicotine is used as a pesticide. Now, it might be odd for a gardener to want their pesticide 99.9% pure, however there's no law about being a perfectionist gardener, is there now?

(Not suggesting anyone mix their own nic juice without reading about how to handle it, and most definitely not suggesting anyone ever use pesticide grade nic for anything but pesticide, however just pointing out that, when not packaged together as an e-cig, every component is legal and obtainable, and e-cig laws won't change this)
