I'm very excited about the Reo I just picked up. The button seems to have melted and probably needs the spring replaced (pictures below)..but I picked it up for just $65! I emailed Rob and he said I could either send it in for repair or do it myself. What would you guys recommend? Also gonna need to pick up a RM2..are they still oos?

Excited to join team REO!

I have a repair kit as a backup, but in this case, I'd give your new Grand a visit to the REO spa. :D Definitely have it come home with an RM2 friend, a couple of spare RM2 post screws, spare o-rings, some extra bottles, and either a spare spring and/or a rebuild kit (which comes with a spring) for backup. Rob also sells sample lengths of Kanthal and you may want to add some 28 and 30 AWG.

Thank you..so Rob taking a look at it seems to be the best idea, eh?

You can't tell if that spring has collapsed. For sure replace it. With the melted button a short in it's past is a good possibility.

A rebuild can be easy to do. But not knowing the REO's past I sure would send it in.

I like to rebuild them myself. I was nervous first time but figured I could send it in if I screwed it up. It was even easier to do than I expected. I didn't save much money doing it myself and maybe only a day or two shipping time. But I figure I saved some of Rob's time that could be used making new Reo's. Also got to know my mods inside out, I like doing that with all my gear.
