@Matrix - LOL, I agree - I started to get nervous...... I do not want to read anything negative about these GLV's... I spent a pretty $$$ for this. Above my budget atleast - AND I love it so much !!!!! User errors I can understand and we can learn from others. I just don't want a thread to scare others including me!!!!! I am glad this problem has been solved and I will take extra care for now on with adapters !!!!!

I LOVE MY SM GLV !!!
I LOVE MY MAPTANKS !!!

GLV+MAPTANK = WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM IN HEAVEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question about the plastic cap on the opposite side of the atty connection... is it really necessary? I've removed mine, used a q-tip and removed the white goo within. It appears as though it's a tiny sealed compartment but, idk, is that where you'd poke a precision screwdriver to push up the contact? What's with the goo, does it serve some purpose?

I have a brand new sm with the lanyard and my camera lanyard attaches differently making the plastic cap unusable. I hope I haven't exposed something that should mainly be covered... I'd sooner precisely put a small dab of silicon up there and let it cure then mess with the plastic cap.

I'll leave it alone for now until Jay has more time to go into detail.

Any advice until then?

I had to remove the little cap on the bottom and push up the pin that way works now....
thx keyz

What kind of adhesive is used to hold the little cap in place? I've noticed that mine is seems to be in the process of falling out, like the adhesive is streching with gravity or something. I'm sure this isn't a big deal, but it looks funny and I have no idea how to fix it. Can anybody give me advice on what to do? Please keep it simple, as I'm not real "handy" TIA:)

Probably so Lynn. When I was using the MAP with an adaptor it pushed mine down. I talked to Jay and he said to pull the little plastic plug out and take a small screwdriver and push up gently on the bottom of the pin and you should be back in action.

He Brutus,
I'm having the same problems and need to do the same thing. The little plastic plug was held in place by a lot of blue gluey stuff that I'm not sure if I should remove or just try to push through it. The brass pin has been flush with the black gooey stuff since I got it and I don't know how far it should be sticking up to make contact. Would it be easier for me to just buy another adaptor to put on top of the one I've been using?? This is very frustrating:(
