so is anybody using the carto sock from a dual coil or something and not oxidizing the mesh? i would like to know if there is any change in the performance or how it vapes or if it even makes a difference? - other than not having to burn the wick lol
I used some of that ceramic sleeve that Dan had. It un-raveled very fast but when you get , you got it.

Just tell everybody that Nurse Cratchet hid a 5 dollar mad vapes gift certificate under one of the bus seats, that would get them there FAST!
Heck, you could probably get them there by uttering the words... "Hmm... I lost a 510 connector... I wonder if it fell out of my pocket on that bus over there?"

I couldn't find ruby flux at the shack or ace, is there anything else I could use?
I found zinc oxide "regular paste flux" but it says not for electronics use with aluminum or magnesium. Is this ok?

This will keep the Kanthal from unraveling on the spool.
Take a pair of side cutters and cut two notches in the outer lip of the spool.

For anyone thinking about using the ceramic sleeve hit it with a torch before you use it, you don't want to breath or taste the sizing on it...
Yea, Thanks Jonah. I sometimes forget to tell people some of the things that I take for granted.
It doesn't look like the coil is broke in yet to me. I know with my genisis attys, the coil starts working really good when there is a thick layer of juice built up on it.
I can't remember the exact amount of time....but I remember Raidy saying that you shouldn't inhale while you are breaking in the coil. And also, not enough airflow will give little vapor, and blow the back of your head off TH!
I have not built one yet but is your wick kinked or is it an optical delusion? I am wondering if a kink in your wick may not be letting it get enough juice???
Any time, I forgot to let people know when I recommended it for the Iatty and people used it without torching it first.
Was adjusting my wire (same wire since I got it June 10)...of course it's brittle...of course I broke it.
Took a deep breath...and just got to business. (things are very slickery with e-liquid on it !)
Replaced the wire and I am good to go !! Took me about 5 minutes to set up, work and put things away...not bad for the first time !
Now I have to go find my socks...I think they went over and behind the sofa.......

Mann, I was doing PERFECT. Got the nail into the carto post, was about to push it into the pen tube and the thing bent! Can I find these nails at ace? Cuz I have a feeling I'm gonna be needing more.
This weekend I'm going to turn a corner of my room into a modding station, definitely needs a nice little flourescent fixture (with a tube guard!), and walls on the side of this table to keep shaving of stuff and/or m1.6 screws from flying onto my bed.
