Hey all,

I just bought some extra blank cartomizers a week or so ago, and these things are strange.... I went to pop the cap off the end of a few of them to fill them today, and they are more than glued... the first 1/8" to 1/4" of the tube is part of the white cap, and it looks like it's epoxied in place before it was wrapped with the black sticker. They also have no silicone ring inside them like all the other KR8 cartos I've bought.

Has anyone come across these before? They have a weird taste to them. It sucks having to completely break the cap off to use them, too... though I usually ditch that part and poke a hole through a rubber cap for easy refilling.

Some of the KR808 Premium cartomizers do not have an inner gasket, and the mouth pieces are more securely attached. After reading other posts here, I found that if I place just the mouth end in very hot or even boiling water for 20 seconds or, the top will come off much more easily. I've had good luck doing it this way.

Cartomizers with hard, glued in plastic caps and no O-rings are pretty common these days (KR808D-1 and 510 styles). If you don't want to refill them using the "condom method", and need to take the cap off... just dip the cap end in some boiling water for a few seconds. That will usually soften the glue and you can pop the cap off without destroying the rest of the shell.

Edit: This is what happens when two people reply within seconds of each other.... ;)

Yes, it's sold as a KR8 cart... I think I need to take a pic of it when I get off from work. The white plastic tip comprises the top centimeter of the body of the cartomizer (which I assume they do to save metal). If I do unglue it, I will have to trim the outside sticker down.

Oh, and the cap has a little silicon nub inside it, so the CCFM method will leave a few millimeters of fluid standing in the condom when the hole is blocked off. I always fouled the carto when I tried that method anyway.
