I suppose the police are gonna have to add a nicotine field test strip to their bag of drug testing goodies to see if you are vaping with or without nicotine. In the meantime, we may be forced to deny having nicotine in our cartridges. I guess this goes along with the civil disobedience idea in another thread from yesterday... If PV's get classified as 'drug paraphernalia' then they are gonna have to have a way to verify there are drugs (nicotine) in them while you are using them, just like a water pipe, a (real) vaporizer, or a whipped cream dispenser.

They would have to test the e-cig, not your blood, since there are plenty of legal ways to get nicotine in your system - analogs, gum, patches, etc. It's not the nicotine that's illegal - it's how you get it into your body. Man, I smell the Supreme Court all over this in the coming months...

But if it's not in your blood then there's no proof you used it or that if you did it actually worked. That puts us in the realm of regulating possession as opposed to usage, which is quite a large step.

(OT: I see you're local to Seattle - do you plan on selling liquids? It would be nice to have a pick-up location nearby. If you respond, please use a PM so we don't clutter up the thread.)

Hold it, you're going off in a totally wrong direction! None of the regulatory talk relates to possession or use. It is strictly a question of legality as to marketing and sales. There is absolutely no issue of nicotine being or even considered being a "controlled substance" in the sense you are using!

""It doesn't break the link between the pleasure of sticking something in your mouth, inhale on it and getting that rush of nicotine," said Dr. Curtis Veal, Swedish Medical Center."

Why is he saying this like it's a bad thing? That is the whole purpose of the PV as far as I'm concerned. And I still stick coffee and doughnuts in my mouth and swallow/chew it too to get that caffeine rush and sugar high........is that next to be derided as a bad thing? Good article otherwise (I find it laughable that they always have to have an opposing point of view whether it's lame or not)

why?? because anti smokers and anti smoking doctors could care less about facts, safety or anything else.
they hate the look of a rebelious cigarettes, analog or electronic.
they want every one to act the same,,dress the same,,not smoke, drink and eat lettuce all day.
anything rebelious or fun should be banned..its a nazi way of thinking.
we all die anyway,, how about some old American freedom and fun before we do..
doctors like that are a joke..

That's true, yvilla. I was sort of going off on a satirical worst-case-scenario, there. :)

Ok Jer, now I got it. :p

My reaction though, was because I have seen apparently quite serious posts or questions here before along the same lines - people asking about the possibility of arrests, etc. IMO, it really needs to be clear that regulation should not be confused with criminalization.

I knew moving to Seattle was a good choice :) This is the best news report I've seen yet, and the only down note was that doctor who frankly came across as a killjoy who didn't like the idea of an e-cig simply because it might be enjoyable to use: "Ok, it doesn't seem to be toxic, but people will like using it 8-o"

Checking with the Attorney General's Office and getting official word that e-cigs don't fall under the smoking ban was icing on the cake. Well done, King 5.
We're just outside of Seattle but my wife gets into the city proper quite a bit and has found it very open to e-cigs. We've found plenty of non-smokers or casual smokers interested in using one socially (mostly for the novelty value but a few to get away from "normal" cigarettes) and several people now immensely interested in getting a loved one off of "normal" cigarettes.

Would it be okay to post a link to this forum it cases like this where people are interested but state the report just did not give enough information.

Also came across HealthBlogs - Powered by 24.com
A new e-cig user is planning to blog and is looking for people to submit their own stories.

Personally I think we look better when we aren't perceived as spammers. A reference to online e-cigarette forums is enough for folks to locate us. JMO.
