Hello to all. We have a young baby in the house now, (soon to be 4 months old), and I was curious if there was any new information out there about second hand vape. I did a search and read some really good threads about it, but all of them seem to be from 2010-2012. Is there any new information out there about this subject, and if so reliable? I trust the good people here much more than just doing a search on google which may show a study done by some anti-vaping entity.
(I hope I am not beating a dead horse by asking. I would just like to know if anything new has been found.)
Thank you!

if you don't vape around the baby why does it matter ? even if you were smoking cigarettes and went outside to do so
i don't see how that could harm the baby , hysteria surrounding second hand smoke is mostly that , hysteria. Sure
if you were chain smoking in a sealed room with the baby that would not be good .... there is no evidence anywhere
of second hand vape being harmful to anyone

Playing the devil's advocate: Conceding the above, it's pretty obvious that the exhaled vapor is not only water vapor because it sometimes has a residual odor and can/may leave a film on glass. Even though there may be no evidence of harm there is also no evidence showing otherwise.

that's right, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. I do find it hard to believe though that vaping outside , or in a different room is going to cause any harm to a baby , or anyone else for that matter..... i also find it hard to believe that smoking a cigarette outside and then returnng to the same room is harmful to a baby or anyone else in the room

Here's a more recent article about a more recent study http://www .webmd.com/smoking-cessation/news/20140903/e-cigarette-vapor-may-be-less-toxic-than-tobacco-smoke-study
(link broken, just because)
The article isn't particularly vape friendly, but here's the gist of the findings minus all the usual "possible harm" nonsense:
"The study shows that regarding the most dangerous chemicals released by tobacco smoke, e-cigarette vapor contains none. Other chemicals it does contain are mostly a small fraction of those from cigarettes, and the metal compounds it releases are at levels unlikely to pose a risk," said Hajek, who studies tobacco risks.

"The conclusion should be that e-cig vapor is unlikely to pose any risk to bystanders. This tallies with other studies conducted so far," he noted.

ETA: I'm not telling you that you SHOULD vape around your baby, just that the evidence to date points to it not being an issue.

Thank you for that. I was wondering if anything new had come out. Even though I don't vape around my daughter, I was still curious as to whether or not anything new had been put out. (I agree that it doesn't matter, since I don't vape around her. The gist of my post was to see if anything new had come out on the subject as I was curious.)
