Not sure if this is the right section of the forum but.

Has anyone else noticed people coughing & waving your vape cloud away if you vape next to them?

I have, Blowing out a cloud I have had people cough and wave it away like it was cigarette smoke. Even if they know its a vaporizor and know its not smoke. Not intentionally blowing clouds in peoples face so dont want you thinking that.

Just something I have seen, is it just force of habit or is it really bothering them.

They don't know what it is you are exhaling and they exhibit the normal reaction. They wave it away like it was cigarette smoke. It's better to blow it down the front of your shirt or move to a vacant spot. The news media isn't giving vaping a good name with all the anti-vaping news articles that appear in the media. I don't blame them for not wanting vapor exhaled in their direction.

I try not to blow clouds when in public. We don't want to gain a reputation for being obtrusive with our vaping. It's a good way to have it banned in public.

Yep, I save my big clouds for my dripper at home. Otherwise I usually try to find a spot away from folks (including smokers, not cause I'm alienating them but cause the smell grosses me out now) to vape. That way I'm not bothering anyone. If anyone asks me questions (it happens more frequently than I would have thought) I will gladly chat and answer questions, correcting misinformation when I hear it....

A couple of non smoker friends have even picked up vaping 0 nic juice cause the flavors I was telling them about got them curious.

Although it may be a Knee-Jerk reaction you could try limiting your vapor production when you are among other people especially if they aren't vapors or smokers.

If you are blowing Clouds all the time try NOT doing that. Or do you feel the need to be obnoxious when you vape near others?

I vape everywhere and have never seen this type of reaction. But then I don't as a rule blow Clouds and Clouds of vapor.

Figured it was a condition reaction more than anything but wanted to know if there was something actually offending them

Conditioned reaction or not and Yes there is something actually offending them. You blowing Clouds around them.

Just because they may be friends and or family doesn't mean it give you the right to invade their space with clouds of vapor. And that is whether or not they are smokers or vapors.

I was at a home of a "friend" of the wifes and went outside to vape a bit, the "friend" came outside and saw me vaping and decided to get on my case about how bad it was for me. I tried to explain how much safer and cleaner vaping was compared to smoking and she wouldnt hear it. Being I had also excused myself to go outside due to "natural digestion processes" and to vape, I had a supply of methane building up.

The "friend" was beginning to irratate me with her bantering, so I turned to her and asked her if she would prefer a more natural aspect. She perked up and said anything natural would be better for me than vaping "that poison". I leaned over a bit and let "natural" proceed...
she left immediatley ranting about how disgusting that was... well she did say natural was better... wish she would make up her mind...

dont think Ill be going back to my wifes friends house....

My brother in law (RIP) was a deep rooted "non-smoker" and would indulge in the habit of gasping for air anytime I smoked outside, holding his breath as if the smoke was preventing him from breathing (mind you, I was more than 15 feet away from him). However, when his relatives came to visit from Europe (all chain smokers without filtered cigarettes) he would have absolutely no problem with their smoke and sat right next to them in conversation for hours. I guess they had the same kind of cooties as he did and their exhaled smoke didn't affect him adversely.

I agree with this observation. Many of us vet vapers will vape most places but do so respectfully and with common sense. I don't believe we should hide our vaping (in most circumstances) or act like we still smoke and self-ban ourselves to only smoking sections. But being respectful and using common sense means not blowing huge clouds around others unless you know for sure they are fine with it.

Had this happen at a poker tournament in a bar (for fun, points, small prizes). The first time I went nobody had a problem. Second time I was using a kayfun and two older people freaked out cause they could smell the vapor. The bar/restaurant allows vaping, but of course they coughed and waved the vapor away (did not blow clouds at all) and complained to the staff.

Funny thing one of them told the story at another table and my wife was sitting there and let me know later and I just laughed. So staff member asked me not to vape at the table. No worries I just got up from the table and stood a few feet away and vaped my heart out every time I had a crap hand.

I haven't been back since, my wife still goes on Tuesday nights.... I may return one of these days.

I had this exact thing happen this week at the casino. Lady sits down beside me and almost immediately starts coughing and waving her hands. I said wow have you got a problem. She replies I'm allergic to smoke. Of course I said I really can't help you since my ecig doesn't put out smoke, it's electronic. She sat there and never coughed again for 3 hours. That ought to tell you just how allergic she was.
