Went to my first Phillies game of the season tonight at Citizen's Bank Park in Philly. There is normal stadium security out front at the gates. A standard pat down procedure looking for basic weapons and open containers. I was carrying my Copper mod in my jacket pocket and since the thing is enormous the lady searching me found it and asked me to remove it. Upon removing it from my pocket I handed it to her and said, "Its just an electronic cigarette...". She immediately replied, "Oh no, you can't take this in. What is it?". Then I started a back and forth conversation with her about why I should be allowed to take it in with me and why I was a little upset she was giving me a hard time. I also happened to have a full KR808D-1 and a full eGo setup in my other pocket which I showed her in an attempt to convince her it was fine. That actually made it worse and she called her boss over. He immediately gave me the no go. I quickly grabbed each device off the table he laid them out on and took a hit from each one... "Look sir, its just an e-cig. You guys have to see these now and then and be familiar with them." Finally the guy got tired of arguing and after I popped the battery out of my mod and took it apart in front of him he reluctantly let me take my gear into the game. All my friends had to wait for me and it was really a hassle. Anybody else have issues like this with security anywhere? It kind of made me angry but at the same time I am able to understand their point of view. They're just doing their job really...

Yeah, my brass mod definitely looks sketchy which is why I meant to leave it in the car. Also why I had an assortment of gear with me. Some adult beverages may have been consumed in the parking lot. Forgot what I was doing... lol.

I'm leaving for the game today right now. Back to back days! Now I know what I can bring in...

i gotta say that surprises me. I was just at a Phillies game about 2 weeks ago (the crazy one where the phils went up 7-0 then Blanton imploded!!) anyway, I had a ego in my pocket cuz i was worried about a hassle if I took my REO grand....anyway, not only did no one stop me at the gate, I tooted on it a couple times while walking around the concourse. One lady in a Phillies usher uniform did stop me and point me toward the smoking area. When I told her I wasn't smoking and showed her the Ego, she said, ok, sorry to bother you, enjoy the game.

sorry you had such a hassle though. It shouldn't be that way.

I've got to say you lost me right here... a pat down to get into a baseball game? I haven't been to a major sporting event in years (I often go to my local town's unafilliated ball games), but a pat down?

And I come from a town where you haven't been able to bring an electronic device (espeically cell phones) into the local courthouse for at least ten years. (The deputies used to hold them for you, but now they won't even allow them inside the building. People who don't know the rule used to bury them in the planters outside... thieves figured this out, and the odds of ever seeing the phone again became pretty much zero).

Sorry for the interrpution... just showing my insularity.

It was the fact that it was a copper mod I'm sure, they are big and relatively heavy and could be used as an impact weapon. It is painfully obvious that at many sporting events people can not control their tempers and anything large enough to be a weapon is going to get the attention of security. Impact weapons can seem quite innocuous, a bit or braided rope saturated with glue used as a key chain fob can puncture the skin and break bones if used properly.

I've taken my Chuck to many Padres games, but we don't have metal detectors and nobody pats anybody down.

I'll be taking it there again this Saturday against the Phillies.
If you watch the game on television, you might see me.

I'll be sitting in the new adirondack chairs that they put in the "beach" area this year.
There are 10 of these seats, and the wife and I will be in the two on the very end towards the rightfield side.

These seats are directly behind the chain link fence, at ground level, behind the rightfielder.
If you see any "smoke" coming through that fence onto the field during the game, well, I swear it wasn't me.

lol, as others said, not surprised... really can't blame them, even people that have seen regular e-cigs freak out at the sight of mods. im really surprised how many smokers i know that have an ecig... that they bought at a smoke shop for a ridiculous amount. that is what the majority of the public has seen. in public theres very few people that know what it is that im using.

other thing to think about... ive had people think my darwin is a PV for some "other" substances. which is very understandable actually since they have some small ones like that...

btw, those situations are why i have a bloog :) and a riva and ego :) and snus :) and 510 :) etc.... at least with the darwin you can tell people its a court appointed breathalyser :p

BTW OP was there any reason to bring multiple e-cigs to a game? lol

I brought the copper for the bus ride and the eGo was for myself inside the ballpark. 510 was an emergency backup and the 808 was for a friend of mine to try out. What, you don't carry 5 ready to go setups everywhere? lol

No incident today at the ballpark. Just took the eGo in and I put it behind my cellphone in my pocket so when I got the pat down security didn't notice any weird shapes at all. Phillies won too. Awesome day.
