I received my sedansa diva yesterday,
This is the 1st pen style e cig. i've bought, after watching leaford's review I charged the battery up for eight hours, started to use the sedansa last night working absolutely wonderful, plenty of smoke, nice east relaxing draw against sucking on my mini e:cig. 1 hour down and the battery was flat, didn't use it again until this morning because of waiting for the other battery to charge for eight hours.
I put in the second battery this morning, wonderful, great 2/3 hours later second battery goes flat. So now i'm on third battery it started to taste awful and seems to sting the back of the throat, I checked the cartridge which looked pretty dry. Is this what you get when the cartridge becomes dry on a pen style e:cig??. I put a fresh cartridge in and within 3/4 fags worth that cartridge is dry. So i dont know if the problem is the atomiser (any help) One thing that I have noticed, when putting other e: cig batteries on charge is the end of the battery flashes. Sedansa batteries dont flash is this right??. The charger is on red for about 1hr 10/15 mins then turns green, could there be a problem with the charger??
Going back to the atomiser when you give a slight blow the smoke leaks from where the battery joins and also believe it or not where the green light is. I know this sounds cool and is an e:smokers dream but it's quite scary it travelling down through the battery.
I'm not experienced with the pen style e;cigs as i said earlier this is my first one i've tried.
I will be contacting sedansa but with it being the weekend i thought you guys and gals might be able to help.

So at the moment with the loong totem trying to rip me off and this i'm not very happy

when it turns green its done.. no more current passes into the battery after that.. this leaving on charge for eight hours is nonsense with lithium batteries.. the charger switches off when a certain voltage is arrived at.. turning green means OFF.. ignore those who say otherwise..

the flashing dosnt happen with all e cig batteries only some of them.. its not a problem.. smoking a cart too dry will cause a nasty taste some times.. they taste better when wet..

send it back and buy a generic dse901 mini from pillbox or somewhere.. at least those work and u dont get ripped off..

not all carts empty properly if it runs out too soon this is why.. topping them up is the sensible thing to do.. buy liquid or syringe it out of other carts..

Hi Trog

Thanks alot for your reply , between me and my partner we've got half a dozen of those dse901 from pillbox and java electronics also who sells his 901's for £19.99 only disadvantage is 1 battery but the power cord is usb as well as mains which is a bonus and he dont rip you off for p & p.

regarding e:liquid my partner being doing that for 3 weeks off pillbox he advertises this as pipe e:liguid but it's all good stuff.

Beleive you me you cant compare a sedansa with a 901 when i'ts working it's fantastic.

I'm sorry it's not working well for you :(
To me it doesn't sound like you're getting the battery life you should.

Like Trog said it won't accept any more charge after the charger turns green. Well... I've read that if you leave it on the charger for an hour after it turns green, you can get a 10% additional top off charge. I think this is from when the charger checks every few mins to see if the battery can accept more voltage. But only 10%. So yeah the 8 hours is kinda pointless.

As far as cartridges... If I puff on my penstyle constantly I can dry out the cartridge pretty quick. The e-cig will use the liquid at the tip of the cartridge before the rest of it can wick down. This usually isn't an issue for me because I don't puff on it for that long. But for really heavy smokers or someone who just got a brand new toy I could see it happen.

For the bad taste... Yeah I've noticed a slightly bad taste when the cartridge is dry. I also get one if the atomizer is too clogged and isn't getting enough air.
My penstyle smokes out of the battery/atomizer connection if I blow out a little, but not the battery tip.

I'm sure Leaford will be more helpful :)

i dont think the charger does kick in every few minutes to see if the battery will except any more voltage.. i think the electronics read the battery voltage and switch off at around 4.2 volts.. lithium cells can catch fire if over charged or at least suffer damage.. the 4.2 volt cut off point is to make sure this dosnt happen.. the danger over-charge voltage is quite critical..

as to not being able to compare a 901 to a sedansa clue me in as to whats so special about the sedansa.. except the price.. ???

Hi Diane, I got a Sedansa Diva a couple of days ago. The batteries don't seem to be lasting very long at all although I haven't timed them, I'll start doing that and let you know. They charge in less than two hours and don't flash when connected to the charger. Vapour comes out at the join of battery and atomiser and the end of the battery. I refill cartridges when they get a bit dry so can't tell you how long one of Sedansa's cartridges would last me.

Update
One of my batteries has just lasted an hour and fifteen minutes.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. So far, although I had one battery die spectacularly, the other is still working fine. I usually get 7-10 hours of good smoke, then can squeeeze out 2-3 hours more of decent smoke. It sounds to me like either your batteries or charger are bad.

So now i'm on third battery it started to taste awful and seems to sting the back of the throat, I checked the cartridge which looked pretty dry. Is this what you get when the cartridge becomes dry on a pen style e:cig??. .
That's what I get when ANY style gets dry. Thin, bad tasting smoke.

I put a fresh cartridge in and within 3/4 fags worth that cartridge is dry. So i dont know if the problem is the atomiser (any help) .
... I got nothing.

Could well be a bad charger. My battery's LED doesn't flash either, so that's normal. My charger goes green after 2 hours, and I read from the Dutch distributer Rektojem, that it only takes 2 hours to charge. But if I only give it 2 hours and pull it off, I find vapor production drops after only a couple hours, so I always charge mine at least 4 hours, whatever the light says

Going back to the atomiser when you give a slight blow the smoke leaks from where the battery joins and also believe it or not where the green light is. I know this sounds cool and is an e:smokers dream but it's quite scary it travelling down through the battery.
That's normal. It's just vapor travelling backwards along the airpath. You can do it with any penstyle.

Can't blame ya.

Wrong. Maybe that's how it's SUPPOSED to work, but it doesn't. If you pull it off as soon as it turns green you'll only get half as much time from it. And that's for all e-cig batteries. I ignore the green light and just go by time.

send it back and buy a generic dse901 mini from pillbox or somewhere.. at least those work and u dont get ripped off..
Ignore Trog, that's his advice every time. Buy Pillbox or e-cig.com, then throw them away without complaint when they die. He believes in buying an endless stream of disposables, and doesn't beileve in paying for a better unit, or in using guarantees.

I'm sorry it's not working well for you :(

8 hours is for the first, INITIAL charge only. After that, I only give 4 hours. Well, unless I go to sleep. ;)

Again, my experience tells me you are dead wrong on the battery charging. I know for a fact that I do not get a full charge's worth of smoking if I pull it off as soon as the light turns green. On ANY e-cig.

As to the difference between a Diva and a 901, well the 901 doesn't put out as much vapor, doesn't last as long in either cartridges or battery life, and doesn't look as pretty. And, your 901's don't come with a 5 year guarantee. Not even a 1 year guarantee, although Meltrix has been good about replacements for me.

Wow. Are you pulling it off the charger as soon as it turns green? I charged mine for 8 hours the first time, and 4 hours each time after that. Even when smoking it as my only e-cig I get 7-10 hours from one battery. With my typical habit of smoking 2-3 e-cigs, it last me all day.

Kate, Diane, I would just contact Sedansa and ask for new batteries and chargers. You've got a 5 year guarantee. Don't be shy about using it.

I'm getting one new battery to replace mine, and a new atomizer because the connector is a little wiggly. That's what a guarantee is jor.

hello leaford.. he he..

one hour fifteen minutes then going flat is a disaster kate.. its what my generic 901 batteries give out when around a month old and 75% worn out.. when new they will give about four or five hours of heavy use before going flat..

there is also a direct link between how long the battery takes to charge from flat and how worn out it is.. when new a generic 901 takes about three hours to fully charge.. the charger puts out around 200 milliamps until the battery gets to about 80% of its charge.. it takes as long again to get the extra 20% to bring it up to full 4.2 volts because the input from the charger drops off as the battery voltage goes up.. we would be talking four hours use as opposed to five here .. not a massive difference..

these batteries are really too small to power the heater coil for long.. they wear out quickly because of this..

a generic 901 battery will start to noticeably lose its capacity (with the use i give it) after just over two weeks real time usage.. the battery in essence become a smaller capacity battery.. this has the effect of lessening the charge time from flat to fully charged.. and also the run time..

the initial when new charge time drops off to around one hour from three hours and the run time drops of to around one hour or less from the original four or five hours.. time to throw away the battery and replace it.. it dosnt matter how much one pays for the battery only in the sense the more one pays the more one has to lose very time a battery is thrown away.. they will wear out quickly.. fact..

its easy to tell the charge state of one of these batteries.. all it requires is a volt meter.. when fully charged they will read about 4.2 volts.. their nominal capacity is around 3.7 volts..

the average type e cig battery is around 300 milliamp hour capacity.. as i said earlier too low for the job it is required to do.. which is why they wont last long..

the average current draw on the e cigs i have measured is just under one amp.. or around 1000 milliamps.. in the real world this equates with about 15 minutes real run time before going flat.. this is when brand new.. the battery is being drained each time one puffs..

lets say a puff lasts five seconds.. or 12 puffs for one minutes real battery use..

for the average (new) 300 milliamp battery to go flat we are talkng 12 x 15 puffs.. or 180 puffs.. when the battery flashes flat its voltage is down from 4.2 to 2.7 volts.. this is fully flat and the smoke output of the device will start to drop of long before the fully flat stage is reached.. a wimp with fully charged battery will suffer more than a good smoke producer..

this has nothing to do with price paid for the device.. its simply battery facts.. and how they work..

the problem stems from the desire of the manufacturers to make these things cigarette look alikes.. the end result is a battery that isnt up to the job it has to do.. where batteries are concerned small is not good.. big is good..

as an example i have some genuinely "kaput" 360 ml type e cigar batteries.. they read fully charged (4.2 volts) after 15 minutes in the charger and go flat after three puffs.. leaving them in the charger for a week wont make the slightest difference.. i use a 21 watt 12 volt car bulb to test for really dead ones.. it draws around the same current as an e cig atomizer.. the really dead ones power the bulb for about ten second then go flat.. a good new battery will power the bulb for around the expected 15 minutes..

the bottom line is we are being sold pups.. the people that offer these devices with a five year guarantee would be sending me out a new battery every three weeks and a new atomizer very three weeks.. over a five year period that would be 85 new atomizers and 85 new batteries..

dont get me wrong here.. at the totally over inflated prices these people charge for their (admitted) consumables they could in fact send out a free new atomizer and free new battery every time someone bought 25 carts at 100 or so dollars..

the bottom line here of course is the people offering the five year guarantee which does include the proviso one uses their way over priced carts will be long gone before the five years is up.. when people (leaford not included) realize exactly what they are buying (in essence disposable items sold at over inflated prices with a fake five year guarantee) the practice started by ruyan will have to stop..

the ruyan throw away after two days of real use (my type usage) e cigar is about right.. they just have to drop the 45 dollar rip your eyes out price down to something vaguely realistic.. like five dollars.. he he he

I've got a 1 year gauruntee from SmartFixx who, when I email about a dead atomizer or battery, will send one out at no charge to me and no requirement for me to send hte old dead one back to htem- The shipping is very fast, and I now have bought a couple of Pens from them so I've got backups for when one goes dead and I'm watign on a new atomizer or battery. While the price is initially expensive, their gauruntee is probably one of hte best in the business with a no questions asked policy- so far they have been fasntastic in htis regard. Most other companies that I know of require that you send back the dead part, but SmartFixx has never asked for the dead part, and infact has sent extras when I didn't ask for such- While their price for atomizers may cost htem just $5 or so, th4e fact that they have hte no question asked policy means you won't be withoput a part for very long at all.

lithium technology is lithium technology leaford.. most lithium batteries available to the consumer have a built in safety circuit.. the safety circuit switches off the charging process at around 4.2 volts.. it also switches off the discharge process when the voltage drops to 2.7 volts..

if the battery is permitted to drop below 2.7 volts it dies and is no longer of any use.. if it goes over 4.2 volts it also (at best) damages the cell and might (at worse) actually catch fire..

lithium batteries are a fragile battery technology.. they really dont like any abuse..they are also dangerous if overcharged..

some are better than others.. the generic pillbox 901 ones are pretty good thow.. from what i read in this thread the sedansa ones dont seem to be much good.. he he

the reason i am so wrong is simply because i have been using small rechargeable batteries on a regular basis for only the last forty years.. far too short a time to actually fathom out how they actually work.. and how each different technology differs from the others.. he he

until u learn a little about the things u are talking about leaford i would suggest a little caution in your piss taking process..

basically it seems the more i tolerate your personal insults the more u will push.. so can we have a little less piss taking please and a little more respect for your elders and your betters.. he he he

some actually honor their guarantees. Contact Sedansa.
If they honor their guarantees with chinese spares, then thank you I won't have... I sent them my failed sedansa diva cigar atomizer, which is the whole body of the cigar, and the sent to me an exact copy of a chinese cigar body. How do I know it? I have exactly the same one. No sedansa logo written on the body and it even had a yellowish front led just like my chinese cigar. My original sedansa led (I didn't send it) is crystal clear. I told them so and they replied that is very strange, because all sedansa cigar bodys have the sedansa logo... So? Am I a liar?
I fully agree with Trog about his views.

OK, I will apologize for McWrongo. I meant it in a light hearted teasing way, but immediatly turned around a few threads later and got upset at your indirect comments. That's just plain wrong, hypocritical, and oversensitive of me. I apologize 100%.

Back on topic, however, I maintain you are wrong for the simple fact that I have taken batteries off after 2 hours, and get less vapor, and they don't last as long, as when I give them 4 hours.

Because many people have posted getting thin wispy vapor who did not give a long initial charge, then repost that they are now getting good vapor after they give it a longer charge.

And because you are saying that virtually every seller and manufacturer doesn't know enough about the subject to give their consumers proper charging instructions.

Hi all,

I've been using what is now being named the Sedansa Diva, since February. Although I have bought extra atomizers and use them alternately (not just to have a change now and then and have alternatives in case of total failure {which has only happened once}, but also sothat they have plenty of time to dry out when I clean them with water {which doesn't happen very often, in case you were wondering ;)), the original atomizer is still going strong.

Since I bought it back in February, I have the original batteries that came with it, and later ordered a set of the new Long Life batteries to try them out. That they last 8 hours is an interesting statement by the manufacturer, but highly generalised as it depends very much on how they're being used. No two smokers have the same smoking habits after all.

They definitely don't last me 8 hours, but the huge advantage is that they only take a little over an hour to charge, which is a significant improvement from the original batteries, which take about 6 hours to fully charge.

I won't get into the rights and wrongs of how batteries work (or don't work :D), but Sedansa do state that the batteries only gain their full potential after several full charges. No idea if this is true or not, but that's what they say. They last me at least as long as the originals do, which are only now, after 4 months or so, starting to last noticably less long than they did in the beginning.

By the way, I too generally leave batteries on the charger after they have turned green, without problems so far...

My experiences with Sedansa are more than excellent. They do honour the warranty and have sent me replacement parts on several occassions, even when it turned out that my first complaints on two atomizers were due to my own lack of knowledge on how to keep my E-cigarettes smoking well (they were just far too wet, a bit of proper maintenance got them going strong again, no problem !) and the problem was simply solved by myself using the appropriate techniques.

Judging by my experiences (and they are only that; my experiences), I certainly would not say that the Sedansa's are 'disposables' at all and, since trying both the Janty Classic and the Janty KISS Box Classic, I would not judge those to be 'disposables' either. Yes, there were some initial startup problems with the KISS Box, but here too the seller provided ample replacement of the parts (in fact, they sent me a whole new one where replacement of one part would probably have sufficed !!) and I now totally 'get' what a lot of people are saying about the amount of vapour it produces and what a wonderful 'smoking' experience it supplies !

With the various Sedansa (penmodel) atomizers, a Janty Classic and a KISS Box classic, my partner and I are now well set up for our E-smoking habits and are very happy with what the products are doing for us. We have stopped using tobacco entirely and don't even miss it !

Just my two penneth' worth...

Cheers,
Silver

Hi Leaford and Kate,

You're both welcome ;), just glad to be able to contribute ...

It would seem from your current experience Kate, that Sedansa could be right when they say the new Long Life batteries don't reach their full capacity till they've had several full charges, that's good news ! I'm afraid I didn't pay enough attention to them when I got them to know for sure . Especially since I use them alternately with the original Sedansa and the Janty batteries, it wouldn't be so noticeable...

I have to say that I've truly been incredibly impressed with the service I've had from both my Sedansa reseller in Holland and Janty Holland. I don't think I've ever experienced such service anywhere before and I applaud them for trying to make this E-'smokin' malarkey as painless as possible for us. E-'smoking' is by no means an exact science, and takes considerable learning to get right, but IMHO when it works, it really works very well indeed and is an excellent alternative to tobacco.

Cheers,
Silver

And because you are saying that virtually every seller and manufacturer doesn't know enough about the subject to give their consumers proper charging instructions.

yes leaford i am saying exactly this.. lack of knowledge about the product companies sell isnt that uncommon.. neither is poor chinese manual translation..

the history of the janty leave on charge for 16 hours the first time goes back years.. for many years chargers didnt have electronic control.. they worked on a 10% of battery capacity basis..

a common one was 50 milliamp into a 500 milliamp hour battery.. 10% of capacity was considered safe.. ten hours at 10%.. but every battery came with the standard "leave on charge for 16 hours the first time" message..

this standard message has been around that long it sticks in peoples minds.. so does the leave on for a bit lpnger to make sure principle.. even the people that sell e cigs.. and chinese manual writers.. he he..

other types of battery technology that now use auto switch off chargers.. turn off the full fast charge and switch into something called trickle mode.. trickle mode is in essence the old do no damage 10% of capacity mode.. this does in fact ensure a full charge and wont do any damage..

but lithium chargers do not do this.. it would do damage.. it does not happen..when the green light comes on the charging process is switched off.. lithium batteries really are dangerous if the charging process isnt very strictly controlled..

as for what people see or think they see i wont comment of that..

trog

ps.. cycling a battery a few times is a good thing before judging its quality.. but this has nothing to do with the leave on charge for xxx hours nonsense.. it could also explain why people see what they see.. any improvement will be from the cycling.. this will happen any way during the first few normal battery charge/discharge cycles..

if any improvement happens.. it will be a short term thing.. over the first three or four cycles.. it wont keep getting better.. i am not entirely sure lithium technology needs the cycling (ni/mh does) but would not dispute what people "see" on this one..

i have a problem here thow.. as long as people choose to believe nonsense and mythology attempting to put across genuine information is a waste of my time.. why i continue to do it puzzles me.. he he

Just an update from me. One of my batteries is doing fine, lasting at least five hours (I lost track of time and can't be accurate). The other battery seems to be faulty, when charging after about forty five minutes the light on the charger starts to flicker between red and green. After the light has been steady green for a couple of hours the battery still only lasts about an hour and a half. I'll get in touch with Sedansa about having it replaced.
When working properly the Diva is a really nice smoke (or vape!). It doesn't require a hard or long draw to get good vapour.
