I use plain, white, unbleached cotton yarn, boiled for 30 minutes and then dried. A 250 meter skein cost me 8 bucks; let's go with a penny per wick. Kanthal 32 gauge, about 3 cents per wick. Time, about 5 minutes to rebuild a T2 or a Vivi. Lifespan is at least 2 weeks on a coil/wick. For that cost, no need to worry about wick lifespan or cleaning. When not using silica wicks and dry burning and so on, cotton wicks are just as cost-effective and easy and quick as trying to maintain any of it. Just toss the wick and use a new one.

should not have to use borax, i've been using the same cotton candle wick all month and has out lasted the coil cause there is no way to dry burn, but it's simple enough to rewick my vivi i just pitch the old one and start fresh.

Ditto. I've been running for 3 weeks on my last cotton wick setup and heavy chain vaping. Still running strong.

Thanks all. Good advice. Had no idea it was toxic.

Borax is known to cause cancer and is banned as a food additive in many countries including the US. I would stay away from it, but hey it's your body XD

I dont think that Borax, ie. sodium borate is a carcinogen, or cancer causing compound, but if consumed it can be fatal in large enough dosages. Read below:

Here's what I got from the same article about borax: 1. The EPA has labeled boric acid as a Group E carcinogen, meaning it has demonstrated "evidence of noncarcinogenicity" for humans.

**But: 2. Toxicity in Humans

" Borax is very harmful to humans if swallowed or inhaled, and can lead to irritation of the eyes, skin and the respiratory tract. It may also lead to negative health effects in the central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, liver and kidneys when ingested or inhaled. According to the National Institutes of Health, poisoning normally happens when a person accidentally ingests substances containing borax, such as powdered insect-killing products. The major symptoms of poisoning from borax are blue-green vomit, ........ and a skin rash. Repeated or prolonged contact of borax with the skin may lead to dermatitis. Borax is especially harmful to children--as little as a teaspoonful can be fatal when swallowed by a young child. The infant death rate from borax poisonings is very high
."

Borax is a completely naturally occurring compound that is mined from deep inside the Earth and it even covers the ground in certain areas of Death Valley Ca. Its safe to say that borax is safe for its intended purposes, such as household cleaner, laundry additive, even as a safe insect control inside the home, but just dont eat it, drink it, and vaping it is probably not a good idea.....
