... and WOW!!! They rock with the new contacts. I am AMAZED, the battery life at the very least DOUBLED!! It's like a brand new REO!! If you haven't done that yet... there's no time like the present!!

Any tips on what we can or can't do with the new contacts? What is different besides they look pretty and the battery life being crazy good?

Also... SuperX has a video of the coil jig thing... an original without the fly fishing thing since hubs said he's not gonna go that far... Anyone know exactly which 1 that is? I keep looking to show hubs but can't seem to find the one I'm looking for. Thanks in advance!

Most important rule: DO NOT SAND the gold plated contacts!!! Not needed and it will ruin them in short order.

Hi Sennie!
Were you still rocking the silver pointy firing pins?

Basically the gold contacts have less voltage drop so they hit harder/use your power more efficiently.
The one thing you DON'T want to do if file them down, it'll strip the gold off.

For the jig, go to Amazon and search for artistic wire coiling gizmo. (if that's the one you're talking about)

I'm soooooo glad you told me not to file because I totally would have, so THANK YOU!!! And yes we were still using the silver firing pins. We got 2 of our grands done and eventually going to send in the other 2 but we had to do 2 at a time so we both had 1 here working.
About the jig... I'm looking for SuperX's original video about it so we can know how to actually use it when we get it. From what I understand Micheal's carries it too?

Just clean the contact and battery possitive contacts with an eraser and or isopropyl alcohol 91% or best 99%. Can find it in the pharmacy.. just make sure it's not 70%.

That will also keep it from arcing. That one pen should last you decades as I'm still using one that gots be 20 years old hehe.

Thank You everyone!!! Headed off to watch video but before I go... how often does it need to be cleaned and treated with the Deoxit Gold? The Noalox was obvious as you could see it wasn't on the pin anymore, but this is clear.

Awesome........glad you got the new contacts!! Michael's does carry the coil gizmo but amazon is about 4.00 cheaper if that matters. They have one if you have prime, but there is also someone that has free shipping on it if you don't have prime. The pen would be good, I got the cheapo 2 ml tube at amazon and just apply it with my fingers. Tried a qtip, but it was just soaking into the qtip too much, so just put some on my finger and dabbed a bit on the spring, the + contact and both ends of the battery, stopped the arc'ing immediately.

Most folks just say once a month when they give their reo a bath. Or of course if you notice any arc'ing before that. I could tell something wasn't right, cuz the vape was bad.

Hobby Lobby has very "Superfine Micro-brush" that I use to apply the DeOxit. When finished, I put the tube an brush into a baggie for another time.
The micro-brush is a very clean accurate method of application.

We have a can of the spray to use 1st that we bought local. Rob said it'll work but we'll go through it much faster.

The gizmo. Ok... At Michael's they run for $10.99 give or take a few pennies, subtract the 50% off coupon and I can get it right then with no shipping. Been so long since I was crafting, totally forgot about the Michael's 50% off coupons!!

But I will say that if you're buying it on Russ's recommendation, (can't remember)...... He's now decided that he likes the coil master better. Asked him why earlier tonite, he said it would take a video to explain, so he'll do that next Friday. Kinda made me glad I hadn't gotten the artistic one yet. Wanna see what he has to say, cuz I've got the coil master thanks to Kay and have been really liking it.
