The Grand has been around for a fair bit of time now, so I'm wondering how has it evolved over the years? I'm fairly new to this whole Reo thing so it would be nice to have a little history lesson. From what I know:

- Originals came in anodized or powder coat finishes?
- Button covers came out when?
- LP Reos were introduced towards the end of 2013 (correct?)
- Upgraded contacts were released April 2014
- SL Reos introduced April 2014
- Brass Doors introduced April 2014

Other than these, what are the other changes?

Thanks!

A few changes for the Grand through the years. More rounded back corners, the addition of the powder coat finish, button covers.

The first Grands had a smaller tube. Thinner around than what is now used. They also had a hex screw to hold the spring.

Some of the first Grands were polished then anodized. Resulting in a high gloss finish. Rare find as few were made.

Interesting. Does that mean the new contacts and tubes won't fit? I also noticed from that other thread the old Grands only had one magnet pair to hold the door compared to the two pairs we have now. :) Or are those just prototypes?

New rebuild kit will work fine. In fact I have my first Grand, the old tubing and hex screw, getting a new rebuild.

The tubing was not as thick but inside diameter was the same, no problem switching.

Prototype Grand had one magnet. Production there were two in the door and two in the body.
