Ok, as everyone already knows from my previous posts; I ordered a Ultimate Automatic Kit with 2 reg auto batts single logo....not disappointed, but not 100% satisfied. I've got a few questions about these batts:

1. How many holes does the single logo auto reg batt have? I have 3 holes and they seem really small to me, even though everyone talks about how big they are.

2. I tried putting toothpicks in there and now I blocked off 2 holes out of the 3 and I don't see how I'm ever going to get the toothpick out of there if I ever wanted to unblock the holes....help!!!!!!

I took a little puff, but with my sinus infection I don't think this is a good idea, even though it's just vaping, my throat killed me when I took a hit. Am I doing this right? blocking the holes that is? Am I going to ruin the batt blocking the holes? It seemed to produce more vapor but again I can't really test it out since I'm sick...
I'm new to all this and I don't want to end up ruining my first 2 batts because of stupidity....any suggestions?

The only reason to block the holes is that you want to limit airflow to increase suction.

When using an auto battery, you will notice there are holes in it, and notches in the cartomizer. You will want to line up a hole/notch, to allow for adequate airflow.

That's step 1.

Secondly, with a throat infection, perhaps trying to fix the draw on your auto isn't the wisest thing to do, however when it comes to auto shorties, if the draw is too light, i take a condom cap, cut the top off, and slide it over the battery, covering up one of the holes. Doesn't look good, but it's effective.

Are you inhaling directly into your lungs, or taking a quick primer puff followed by a long slooooow draw into your mouth and then inhaling into your lungs? Some people find that drawing into the mouth first lessens the irritation. I myself prefer the manuals, but with the autos, there is no way I can direct inhale without coughing up a lung. lol

More then likely, you just need to find the draw that works for you. There definately is a learning curve so don't give up! And don't hesitate to ask questions - that is why we are here for each other!

Ok, so let me get this straight, I have to make sure to line up the 3 holes on my battery to the 4 notches on my carto? I can barely do this in a well lit room, how am I suppose to do this in a dark club/restaurant? I'm not trying to sound like a jerk at all when I say that...is this common with auto batts only? or do I have to line up holes for the manuals too? Because if it's just an auto thing, then I'm going to put in my order for manuals today.....thanks again for all your help...wish I was feeling good so I could play with all of this...:(

I just line up one hole and one notch. That's all you need. If you don't, your cartos will emit a "whistle" thats really freakin irritating.

Yes, this is ONLY with auto batteries. Manuals, you tighten up and go. It's not powered by your suction, but by a battery button.

Lastly, just try and take it one day at a time. I remember when I first started, I was vaping with such a sense of urgency. Over time I realized that as the days went on, vaping slowly took over analogs and everything was good in the world again.

Lastly, are these the old style autos with the VK and Vapor4Life written on them? I've never had to deal with any sort of toothpick things on the newer ones (with the simple VK written on them)

No worries with being cranky, you are also sick, so I'll forgive you...this time.

*wink*

You don't have to line the holes up with the notches. Adjusting the holes with the notches allows you to increase or reduce the draw on the fly, but it'll work just fine just by haphazardly screwing on a carto. Auto and manual both have holes and notches. You don't have to inhale into your lungs to get the nicotine either, just suck the vapor into your mouth and let it out through your nose to get nicotine.

I would suggest digging the toothpicks out of the holes with a needle unless you felt that the battery required too much suction to activate in the first place.

I think you're overthinking the whole thing a bit. Born and JenJen are experts, of course, but I'll tell you, as a fellow newbie (I've been vaping for just over a month), that I have never tried to align any holes visually. Just screw the carto on the battery and adjust it a little until you get a draw that you like. I just play with it. You'll learn soon enough. And I think you've been reading too much about the holes and their sizes. I started with two autos and a wall charger and I couldn't be happier. The draw is airy but I, for one, really like it that way. I just recently got a reg manual and I use it when I need a serious vaping intervention, or when I use refilled cartomizers, but when I'm out and about I use my autos with all the holes wide open.

Unplug the holes, play a bit with your short/primer--longer into-your-mouth-first draws and get used to the sensation. It might be difficult if you're sick as a dog and can't breathe to begin with. How about inhaling some Vaco-Rub and sucking on a lozenge first?

Great point Katya!

See, the light draw drives me BONKERS, so I guess I am overly critical about it...lol.

But you hit the nail on the head. Slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks Katya, Thanks Bornagainst, Thanks Darrigaaz....You guys are right, I'm overthinking it; which I tend to do with everything in life...it's a curse I have. Bornaganist I've got to auto reg batts with the single V4L logo at the end, are those the new ones? I've plugged 2 holes on one of them and left the other alone. So I'm going to play with that (as soon as I'm better of course ) and see which one I like best, the plugged or the unplugged. I'm also going to work on not direct inhaling, which is what I was doing all weekend...hope that didn't have anything to do with me getting sick...but normally I get a sinus infection around this time of year anyways. Thanks again for all your help, it doesn't help that I'm sitting at home not being able to vape and BORED ouf of my mind...too much time on my hands.

Those are the new ones. I never did a toothpick trick, but just cut the condom cart (the top off) and used that. Seemed less permanent.

How those work for me is fresh out of the box, the draw is real light. After a bit, the draw gets heavy. I take a toothbrush, scrub the threads with rubbing alcohol and its as good as new.

But yes, slow drags...hold the vapor in your mouth for a few seconds before doing any sort of inhaling.

Overtime you can vape like a regular cigarette...lord knows I am king of the deep inhale.

Day by day it gets better, so no worries. This is as complicated as it gets.

:)
