Here's the deal. I'm about ready to change vendors...despite just dropping $45 on all new SI stuff two weeks ago. I bought an X2 manual 650 in pink about a year ago, never had any issues with it. Then I thought I lost it, so I ordered a new manual X2 650, in orange this time (I eventually found the pink one). It worked for about 2 months before it started giving a dull buzzing sound when I pressed the button and then finally stopped doing anything all together. SI was great about responding to my ticket, but wouldn't send me a new battery until they had received mine - shipped at my cost, about $5 - and determined it to be defective. Once they got it, the sent me a new one.
I was without a battery for about 2 weeks, which obviously sucked, and resulted in me going back to analogs temporarily. Got that battery and all was well and good for about a month. Then one night I plugged it in before bed like always, woke up in the morning and the charge light was still on. Odd. Pulled it off the charger, charge light stayed on. It worked, but it died in about 2 hours since the light stayed on draining the battery. Plugged it back in, light came on, left it on the charger for a bit, pulled it off, light stayed on. This time it didn't work at all. Contacted SI about a replacement and was told that since it had been over three months since the ORIGINAL purchase, they couldn't warranty it. So the replacement was NOT covered by the same three month warranty, and since the original had lasted almost two months, and the replacement had lasted a month, I was out of luck.
I shopped around, seriously considered switching hardware, but stupidly came back to SI. The rep had given me a code for 16% off since they couldn't do a warranty...so I bought another battery. Dumb move. This time I purchased a 1300 X2 in orange, since I was tired of the 650 not lasting a full day. Also got the new DBC T3 to go with it. Everything got here and I was SUPER impressed. Until now. I've had my battery plugged in using it as a passthrough for a few hours, but all of a sudden the vapor started decreasing and then the low battery indicator flashed. I looked at it and noticed that it was plugged in, but the charge light wasn't on. I changed chargers from computer (not recommended, I know) to a wall charger, still nothing. I wiggled it, nothing. Blew out the charge port, nothing. It is NOT charging. I know this one is covered under warranty, but that means sending it in (again, at my expense), being without a battery for another 2 weeks, and who knows what kind of life I'll get out of the next one.
The pink battery, mind you, lasted almost a year before it gave up the ghost. It now gives a dim, flickering charge light when plugged in and gives a (I believe, anyway) short indicator when a clearo is attached - three blinks on the manual button, and does not charge or even work as a passthrough. Did something in the SI quality control or manufacturing change in the last 10 months that caused this disappointment? I'm banging my head against a GD wall here.
