Bull. Ya can never find an Old Chemist when ya need one....... <Shouts out into the air> "Hey O.C........"

Any validity to the cap off crap/rumor? Too many people ruin/spill juice. Maybe for a short while... if any volatile stuff evaporates off.....but... I say cap on most of the time. Bigger = longer steep? Nah. How do these rumors start?
I can hear ya AttyPops... I was away for a while because I was mixing my lovely "Dark Fire" liquid.
Well - if you remove cap, you'd let more oxygen inside. Oxygen is not very good for nicotine, as it oxidizes this chemical.
In my personal opinion one should leave your mixture (assuming that it is DIY stuff) overnight. Ad that's it. But it strongly depends on the flavors. If we refer to liquids from different suppliers - they're ready to use. No need of playing with caps etc.

What about bigger = longer steep?
From my personal experience - I'd say - no.

P.S. Dark Fire Recipe?
Very simple one: add 1-2 drops of Dark Fire flavor to 5 ml of nic base of your choice (12 mg/ml in VG/PG for me). Shake well for 10 seconds. This one is ready for use right away. I'd suggest it to people that liked strong typical cheap tobacco.
Sometimes I add just a bit of peppermint liquid to enrich the taste.

Thanks O.C. That's what I thought <evil glare at evilfrog>

<not really... cracks up> There's soooo much mis-information out there. We're cool. You're cool. I wasn't really meaning to single you out... just to wage war on the steeping debate. Look at it this way... I saved you some steeping time on those big batches....

Thanks again Old Chemist. And thanks for the flavor suggestion too.

Appreciate the responses, and apologies for hijacking the thread. I'm sure a lot of misinformation is out there, and as a newb, well, I haven't found the "whole truth" yet. I originally asked, as my first foray into vaping started two years ago, and I had some leftover samples. Noticing that each juice was darker and muddy flavored (yes, I vaped them after two years - guess that's what you'd call REALLY STEEPED), I thought there might be some reasoning to steeping them to bring out more of the flavor.

I'm happy with the flavors of the new juice that I have now. Was just wondering. The cap stays on from this point out.

So.... ThreePutt ... how was the 2 yr old juice? Muddy flavored? Hmmm. Did it have any nic left?

BTW... Countrygirl1291 is in the same state. You should talk to her about starting threads like this.... <naturally assumes all Texans know each other>

Of course we do. We all ride our horses to the nearest oil well and hang out drinking Lone Star beer together.

Congrats Attypops on the anniversary! As far as the taste? Muddy was the best word to describe it. It wasn't bad, but the flavor had gone stale... perhaps mixed with the PG and oxidized nic?? The vapor was ok, but not the best tasting stuff. I have no idea what the nic content was. I should have known better, as I couldn't read the labels... they faded long ago.

I did have some Aussies ask me if I knew J.R. during one of my trips to Sydney. I told them I didn't know Larry Hagman, but did live 2 miles from Southfork Ranch. I'm on the other side of DFW now, but drove past the ranch often. Number 1 comment for tourists seeing Southfork? "It's not that big. It looked bigger on TV."

Oh, and HOWDY Countrygirl!

Right - and I've heard that when they're drunk, they shoot presidents and later make a phone call, whining "Houston, we have a problem".

Well, I don't know about that, but if you're a real Texan ...
  1. You measure distance in minutes.
  2. You've had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.
  3. Stores don't have bags; they have sacks.
  4. Stores don't have shopping carts; they have buggies.
  5. You use "fix" as a verb. Example: I’m fixin' to go to the store.
  6. You think that the first day of deer season is a national holiday.
  7. You know all four seasons: Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer, and Christmas.
  8. You describe the first cool snap (below 70 degrees) as good chili weather.
  9. A carbonated soft drink isn't a soda, cola, or pop ... it's a Coke, regardless of brand or flavor.

England. OK, maybe Italy. And we wouldn't have "found" tobacco. The American Indians would still have it to themselves.... We'd be eating mushrooms with the Druids. That and pouring Garum on everything. ECF would be EMF or EGF.

No tobacco. Living too long. More people. Crowded. No Americans. Even more crowded. We'd be killing each other. Is there a defense connection there?
