First ask yourself why you want a mechanical mod.
Is it because you like their looks or style? What about vaping? What are your expectations to get from a mechanical mod that you can't get with a regulated mod?
For myself, my mechs are collecting dust. I enjoy changing my voltage to suit my individual flavors, and I change flavors 3 - 4 times a day. I don't have to be concerned about whether a particular clearomizer or cartomizer is a certain ohm and whether my mech can fire it; with a regulated mod I can check the resistance with the built-in ohm meter and adjust the voltage accordingly no matter what the ohm is.
I bought a couple of RBA's with full intention of using them on my Silver Bullet, but soon found that I preferred using them on my Provari's instead. I had no interest in even trying sub-ohm, so using my RBA's on a regulated mod isn't an issue.
Realize that using a mech you are at the mercy of the battery voltage. Your vape on a mech will be best with fully charged battery at 4.1 volts, and go steadily downhill as the battery drains. A regulated mod will keep the voltage at a steady rate. Of course you can use a Kick in a mech to regulate your voltage level, but if you're going to do that why not just get a regulated mod?
You'll not get the built-in protection circuitry of a regulated mod when you use a mechanical. No short circuit protection, over-discharge protection, thermal protection, reverse polarity protection, etc. You'll have to use your brain to not make any mental errors which could do harm to your battery, your mod, or yourself.
Not trying to talk you in or out of anything. Just put some thought into why you want a mechanical.
