I ordered some 1.8ohm heads/wicks from a different vendor than my previous orders of same. Inserted one in a clean Vivi Nova tank yesterday to replace one that needs to be cleaned. These new heads have 2 long twisted wicks (so 4 wicks that go into the liquid). The wicks have what looks like a little plastic tip on the ends, that has a little hole at the end of it -- they look sort of like shoelaces with these plastic tips on the ends. And no white-ish plastic/vinyl CAP came with the heads. The heads I've been using have this type of cap on them that sits over the wick assembly.
My question is: should these heads have those plastic/vinyl caps on them? I put one on that I had sitting around, and it took a little fiddling to work it down over the head because it was slightly too small. Also, this "squishes" the upper portion of the wicking where it feeds into the head.
I'm getting some occasional hints of "dry hit" on my vape even though the tank is pretty full, and I'm wondering if the "squished wicks" could be the cause. But if no cap is supposed to be put on this head, how do I keep it from flooding?
