I'm wondering if a R5 CE2 in it would wick the whole tank....any thoughts there?

I've never tried one of the R5 cartos - I don't know how they'd work. I have a Stormy tank and haven't had a problem with dry wicking. Have you tried adjusting the fit of the mouthpiece in the tip? It could squeeze the wicks and make the juice flow slower.

Why yes...yes I have. See below. There is no wicking issue at all for the first 2ml...then after that gravity defeats the thing.

Replaced the original tip with a shorty 306 drip tip..much better. http://www.flickr.com/people/87267225@N00/

Well, um, I don't have that tank. I've got the little one that holds about 1ml, and the design is different.

I know on my MAP tanks when the juice gets lower, I have to tip it up to saturate the ceramic cup area when I'm pulling on it, otherwise it can be a little dry. Maybe this tank is the same?

And what's the material in the tube there? Every one of my MAP tanks has disintegrated - literally fallen to pieces - and I'm bored with getting replacement polycarbonate tubing for it. I've switched to clear vinyl tubing, which works - mostly - but I'd sure love to find something that's reliable. Do Stormy's tanks last for the long haul?

I have had most of the tanks out there at this point. I find the very same half empty issue. If you don't swirl or tip them, they don't wick past half way. Solution to that is to get mini tanks with the regular CE2. The Storm tanks are made with cut syringe tubes. They won't last any longer either. You must be careful with vinyl. The nic juice can cause the vinyl to break down and that can be toxic. So far the best thing is to get yourself an 8 foot piece of the polycarbonate tubing and just cut new tubes when you need them.
Link for the tubing: 3/4" OD x 5/8" ID x 1/16" Wall Polycarbonate Tubing | U.S. Plastic Corp.

The price with shipping is right around $14 for an 8 foot piece (which is the minimum you can order)

I wondered about chemical leaching into the juice, but I figured it was still better than an analog cigarette. I've tabled the tanks for the last few days, going back to CE2 XL cartos. I'd still love to find a tank that lasts better, though. They go along great for a couple of weeks, then I see a tiny crack in it, and within three days they're shattered. I'd love to know what chemical reaction is taking place to cause this - polycarbonate is a pretty forgiving and not especially brittle material (my company uses it quite a bit for various things).

How do you cut it? At work we use high speed cutting routers. All I have at home is woodworking tools and a couple of hacksaws. Either of those would leave microfractures on the cut edge that would eventually spread into the body of the tube.

Heh. Maybe that's what is happening on the others. I hadn't thought of that before. I wonder if I could rig up a thermal cutter? Get some high temp wire and rig it to just slice down through the tubing? Or maybe I could use my band saw. Get a 5/8" peice of dowel to support the tube while I'm cutting and just rotate it...

Hmmmm. Maybe I'll get a length of it and experiment.
