For the record, I didn't set out to disrupt anything. Quite the oppositie in fact.

To this point I only see two other posters creating further drama. And, until this post, neither one of them has been me.

When I pulled my posts, I felt they didn't belong here because I (wrongly, I now see) interpreted certain posts to mean the contest was originally intended for loyal M&P customers. Since I am not, I did what I felt was the right thing. Silly me. Only after a few PM's and public posts in this thread asking why... I explained this.

Since then... things have blown themselves way out of proportion... I have begun to feel like a pariah for "causing drama" and "disrupting the thread" when, as I have said above, I was only trying to do what I felt was the right thing at the time.

I also see now, that there has been a bit of clarification, and all are welcome. Which is totally awesome. However, at this point... I am the perceived bad guy (perception is reality, sadly) so I won't bother you or the thread again.

It really is a great idea for a contest. And I genuinely hope you guys have fun with it! Maybe you can even crank it up with some kind of extreme funny face third place prize or something. I am sure after years of smoking some of us (including me) have some crazy wacky rubber faces!

Since it appears that all confusion and drama have quit (thank you pwyll) I would like to join in because I would like to try Mom and Pops. I did not feel it was fair to go back and put this picture in the original spot because there were likes received after I removed it. So I will start fresh.

Thank you for explaining. Until you did I had no idea that my posts could be taken to be "exclusive" in intent. I do have a long and fertile history of being misunderstood so I really don't know if you misinterpreted what I meant or if I worded things in such a way as to encourage the misunderstanding--but you weren't the only one to do it so my phrasing must be at least partially to blame...

The thread has been disrupted because there was enough confusion to derail the conversation and make people retract posts. At least two people decided that they were "not eligible" to participate and at least one person was confused enough to wonder if they were or not. Confusion feeds confusion and drama breeds drama. But in this case there's barely anything to count as drama--and there wouldn't be that much if I'd been online when it started. Believe me, I've seen threads go "total warzone" in less time than this bit of conversation has taken. If my replies have seemed a bit harsh for some reason, it is simply because I am trying to make sure that everyone understands the state of things now so that if someone comes in a week from now and sees your posts and immediately starts raising a fuss over the unfairness of it being "customers only" without bothering to read any of the rest of the thread, everyone else will hopefully be able to stop this bump from becoming a mountain later on.

There are no bad guys here, and you should not feel pariah. I have been in very similar situations myself, and in the end you must do what you feel comfortable with--but you are more than welcome to participate, and I personally hope you do so.

From what I can tell, he is not a cat. He has at least a strong strain of siamese in him, and they are people--as I am sure Harley has told you more than once

It's fine. I ran a BBS, and two networks, for eight years before Compuserve took the internet out of the realm of military and academic research and presented it to the public at large. I was on the internet back before Netscape let people put pictures on it, back when flamewars were considered entertainment and the participants were often graded on creativity and had their technique critiqued by the onlookers. I've seen flamewars in one thread take down an entire board. The only thing that's happened here is that there was a misunderstanding that's now been clarified
