I fealt the same way in the beginning. My family questioned it and I got the feeling i was being answered in an "Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay" type of way.

What I did was informed them that the two main ingredients besides flavoring is Pg which is used as a carrier for asthma inhalers and nicotine. I then explain that if I am honest with myself that I cant break the addiction that i may try to minimize the harm I am doing by only consuming nicotine rather than the 1000 other carcinogens and tar which truely are the detrimental factors in smoking. Before they have a chance to digest and question it I explain that it was still not easy converting to Ecigs but is easier than quitting cold turkey and a little support would be helpful (this usual keeps negativity down as they try to digest and associate it with a coping problem than an enjoyable past time). I let them digest a minute or two and then after questions or comments my rebutal to any negativity is met with , " If I attempt to use this to quit smoking and I stop using ecigs , I am ok with going back to ecigs, I am not ok with going back to smoking."

I have given this great thought and by Explaining the content of the ecig, being blunt and honest about your feelings and explaining that it is not a easy way out just easier and asking for support you catch them off guard and most people even if they dont agree will be agreeable. The statement at the end insinuates a true statement that they can agree on as they feel somewhat obligated to agree even if they feel awkward about ecigs.

Usually i continue to use it around them and the questions and wierd glances and awkward smiles go away and it becomes part of life just as if you were smoking.

Some people were blessed with the ability to pickup and drop cigarettes very easily. Most of us havent known life without them in a very long time. For the most of us camp, who have found vaping, thank goodness for small miracles. It will probably have saved my life.

If in using a little DSE 901 then I don't get many of the "looks", it's when I bring my big wood bottom feeder that I get the "WTH is that looks".
I also have a pink roughstack that I use for Fluxomizers , most people think its some kind of medicine in that one.

I just mind my own business until someone asks. if you look at the newbie thread it's obvious people are learning about vaping at a staggering rate. Im just waiting for everyone else to catch up with what we all know.

My best friend even talked crap until last night when she finally tried it with an open mind because she thought I would give up and when she saw I was not wanting a "real" cig at all she finally gave in. I spent the rest of the evening chasing her around cause she kept swiping my mod!!!
I set her up with my roughstack for the evening with a fluxo and some red velvet cake.

Yeah, who's the silly one now??!!??!!
:vape: :vape: welcome to the other side dear.

I totally understand this thread and the OP lol I am heading over to a friends this afternoon for skating, bonfire etc. There will be people there I don't know....now I would have felt awkward smoking analogs in this situation....but now I'm feeling even more awkward. I decided to take my e cig that looks most like an analog and go from there lol. I do not like attention nor do I want to answer a ton of questions...but I am trying to get in the mindset of not caring if people think I'm weird :)

Around more open-minded/younger people I wouldn't be shy, especially in a bonfire situation. If anything they'll probably wanna try it. Unless you feel strange smoking analog because the kids are straight edge or something, in which case I understand.

The main reason I feel awkward is because most of my family is very anti-smoking and I wouldn't even smoke analogs around them, none of my friends smoke and they were really proud to hear I quit.

Pfft, who cares what they think? If they have a problem with it, just like smoking, it's your health not theirs and you know it's better for you and you should be proud of yourself.

As for methadone, that's a whole other story. It is still a narcotic and still gets abused and I have yet to hear of people abusing nicotine to the point of extreme danger. Most vapers and smokers don't abuse it that way, if any, because it makes you more sick than satisfied when overdone.

I'm with the people who say they don't care what other people think, there the ones walking around with bad breath, breathing problems and the risk of cancer, we are using something healthier with plenty of products to keep us satisfied, I find vaping more of a hobby as I use a lot of time looking around for better products and new flavours to try at a good price and im always looking for something that will last longer than my atomiser for the ego t.

I'm glad I am of those cigarettes, I hope e cigs become more famous over a few years.

When someone tries to tell me "so you're still basically smoking, then", I give them my little speech about regaining 30%+ of lung capacity I lost smoking for 17 years, the amazing improvement of my skin, my renewed energy, my lack of breathing problems or wheezing, the way I jump out of bed in the morning, the octave my vocal range has regained, the even-keeled unstressed nature of my day regardless of whether my PV is miles away from me, and the way I feel better than I have in over 15 years despite aging. I then ask them (if they're a smoker) how they feel first thing in the morning. They usually leave convinced that vaping is NOT like still smoking.
