Has anyone else noticed in these forums that any time someone asks about the Evic and you try to give a logical, balanced reponse as to what to expect with it, you get attacked by half a dozen Provari fanboys/trolls?

I don't think the Evic is the best thing since sliced cheese. I don't think that about the Provari, either... or ANYTHING I use for that matter, and not just vaping supplies. To me, everything you purchase has pros and cons and it's a matter of weighing out what you value the most.

If there was another device like the Evic that was bullet proof and never experienced any firmware bugs or issues with updates... sure, I'd buy it. Do I expect it though? Not really. Because I seem to be one of the few that realize the Evic isn't just an APV, but a computer... and no matter how much you drop on one, it's bound to have those issues. It breaks down when you abuse it. It has bugs in the OS. It sometimes screws up updates. Etc...

The battles going on in these forums over Evic vs. Provari kind of remind me of the battles that were going on when smartphones came out. Did anyone else frequent cell phone forums at that time? It was just as bloody... the old school advocates HATED smartphones for being so much more fragile and prone to error than their flip, candybar, and slider phones.

Then once ALL the carriers made the switch to smartphones and pretty much forced it on everyone... things started settling down. Lots of complaints in the beginning, but people got used to it, and started taking better care of their phones or started paying the consequences without a word.

Personally, I have not had a single problem with my Evic... but I also knew what to expect when I bought it, and was prepared for it. Sure, it's gotten dropped half a dozen times... but never without a protective case.... same as my smartphone. If I have a firmware issue, I know how to downgrade, and in the case of a bad update I know how to try it again and just settle with a downgrade if the update refuses to work.

Meanwhile, considering my young son broke a $600 smartphone with Gorilla glass and polycarbonate body AND a protective case in 30 secs or less just because he got mad at a game... as well as some other very expensive "indestructable" electronics... I can't really justify spending more money on "indestructable" technology any more. A young kid will always find a way...

Do I think everyone should think this way? No. That's just me, and my life. Why can't some people realize that what works for them doesn't work for everyone else, and thus these forums need to be a source of balanced information, and not just a bunch of fanboyish hype and trollish flames?

The evic does exactly what I want it to do. I've had the V1 for about 7 months. The only problem I've had is the control head separating. Epoxy fixed that. Apart from that it's been trouble free and is used all day, every day.

I might one day entertain the idea of getting a Provari but won't even consider it until they do VW at minimum. I've read all their arguments on why VW is meaningless, no one needs it, blah, blah. They're wrong. They either don't understand it or they're rationalizing or both.

The only argument that sways me a bit is that the Provari is American made. I'd like to be able buy a device made at home but won't until such device does what I want it to do.

The Provari nazi's remind me of Harley owners and other clannish whatever owners I've seen in the past. I just have to laugh at them and go on my way.

The ProVari is one of the best PVs on the market (Honestly, I would say it's the best all-around PV - not because I'm a fanboy but because I have owned a large amount of MODS and just like hundreds of people before me I realized nothing compares to the quality, reliability and durability of the ProVari - also, the customer service is hands-down the best in the E-Cig market).

Many people expected the eVic to be another top of the line PV; of course people are going to compare the two.

It is 100% fact that the ProVari is the most durable and reliable PV of them all; period. No if, ands, or buts about it. That's why there are a lot of "fanboys." I am not a fanboy but I can admit that the ProVari is probably the very best all-around MOD on the market. That being said, you don't have to have a ProVari to enjoy vaping. Buy what YOU LIKE and f@#k whoever doesn't like it.

The Evic is my favorite of the china vv/vw's. It has a great screen, is sturdier than people give it credit for, has a much better PWM than the zmax's and charges your battery in the device.

Quite honestly, I would still own one if not for the 2.5amp limit. Well that and I mostly use mechs so I don't need more than one regulated device. Nonetheless, I've always thought it and the MVP great products just with too low of power limits. I think the itaste3 steels a bit of it's thunder though. Cheap, small, about the same power band.

Signed,

Provari Fanboy (so I'm told)

I have an eVic. The biggest problem I have, is the 5v/11w limits they put on them.

I think you can Replace the words "Evic" and "Provari" with any other Name Brands and find the same Results. You can also Switch the two around also and the statement is still Very True.

It just depends Many Times on what Thread you are in. Also, there is an Army of Provari or Vamo or Evic or Whatever Users on the ECF. 100's if not 1,000's of Users.

Don't let a Few Comments, which you might have taken the Wrong Way, by a Few Users Turn you Off.

I know the Thread you are talking about.

The only time I've noticed lately and ProVari fanboyism's is when you start a thread with the names of both devices in the title.

Relax.

Who cares?

Vape what you like.

When you drop that eVic and the head breaks off and you have to buy another one, you might quit banging your eVic drum and buy something worth having.

Wouldn't it be great if they had Otterboxes for PVs?!

As an aside, the OP sets the tone for a lot of these threads, so if you want them to be more of a discussion, make sure your OP is less adversarial than some of them I have seen lately. If you are looking to pick a fight, don't be ...... if the other team shows up.

What a start to the premise of the OP!

source of balanced information, and not just a bunch of fanboyish hype and trollish flames?

And such a balanced statement there. No incendiary statements at all.

The Provari nazi's remind me of Harley owners

Nazis? That is pretty stern stuff. I cannot imagine why you run into problems with owners of ProVaris...

They either don't understand it or they're rationalizing or both.

Right, I don't understand VW.

I own an eVic. It is my second favorite device. It is great and I hope it lasts a long time. I have already had to repair the head two times since I got it at the end of February. Both jobs required re-soldering and re-attaching the head. It is a known fact that eVics are not the most solidly constructed mods. The eVic has a great display, lots of features, and the innovative ability to receive firmware updates. It is a very interesting new product. It also has limits that hurt it like the previously mentioned 5v/11w issue. I went ahead and purchased a replacement head for it. I believe that is a required item if you want to count on your eVic. Also, while the voltage is better regulated and controlled than any of the 33Hz devices, it is only accurate while the battery output is equal to or less than the battery power remaining. The further above this number you get, the worse the accuracy of the device becomes. This has been true with both of the eVic heads I have tested. So to me, until that is operating correctly, the VW function is starting from a bad position where the output is 10-15% off.

So now the $80 eVic is $130-135, if you feel like I do that an extra head is required equipment.

I got my Provari full sized satin finish with extension cap for $174. For about forty bucks more, I have a device that will last years and years and is backed by ProVape service if there is a (rare) problem, which is the best in the business. The output in VV is exactly right (within one percent) from the first puff to the last, even when the battery is indicating low charge. This is documented as well in Phil B's review of it.

This is why I value the ProVari VV done correctly higher than the eVic VW done incorrectly. I hope this explanation does not make anyone feel that they are the victim of a Nazi ProVari Fanboy/Troll attack on the eVic.

I like my evic, and as far as I can tell, it is the only thing like on the market today, with all these options. I think it has more options then I will ever use, but I am sure other manufactures are looking at it, and we will see others like it in the future. I am sure that they will sometime later, come out with another control head for it, with the way electronics are improved these days, which will address all the issues, that this devise has. They have already fixed one flaw in its design. I would like to see one with less plastic & all the options still there, if not more.
I do also wish they had come out with a better atomizer for the evic, I don't like the eca, they should have started from scratch, when designing that, and not used the ego c atomizers in it.
