It turns out that the (upper or lower) stainless 22mm tank rings from a fasttech Kayfun Lite clone work great as a beauty ring for the Sig Zmax. The ring replaces the Zmax top cap. I wasn't using the tank rings on my KFL, since I bought a PMMA tank section instead. The ring needed to be shortened by about 1/16". I used a piece of 400 grit sandpaper placed face up on a flat tabletop and, holding one end of the ring, pushed it down keeping it flat on the sandpaper while moving it in a circular motion, until it was the just right length (slightly higher than the top of the 510/ego connector). By the way, this only works for 22mm atomizers. The ring is held in place by the atomizer and is not screwed onto the Zmax topcap threading.

Airflow on the Zmax isn't significantly decreased with the ring in place, but a small air hole can always be drilled on the side if needed.

I used the second ring as a slightly taller beauty ring, to use with my IBtanks, which create a larger gap with the Zmax, due to the flanged cartos and beveled caps they use.

Total cost is about $16 plus you get a great KFL to use on your Zmax...

This $14 KFL clone will work.

This is the KFL tank I have. It's a matte finish, but I brushed it out. This has an airflow control which the other one doesn't have.

Thank you so much for this!!! I was going nuts about that slight gap, always loosening the top ring so it would rise up and help close that gap, but this is awesome! I just had my kayfun disassembled to clean and change juice, so I gave this a try, and I didn't have to do anything to the height, I screwed in the kayfun's bottom part with the atty, checked the ohms to see if it would register, and it does!

I just got my Nano kit today, I was able to try this out -- and it works beautifully!

It only works if the bottom of the kayfun is pressing against the ring, or it rattles; if it's pressing too hard, there's no contact to the battery, so you have to ease out the center pin just a tiny bit, maybe a quarter turn, so it will contact the battery post yet press firmly enough against the ring to keep it from rattling -- a very delicate balance between rattling and not making contact; I had to try it about 6 diff times to get it *just right*.

I didn't want to permanently alter any part of the kayfun, as the OP did, I like my kayfun too much ;) hence the tinkering with the height of the center pin.

But this was an absolutely brilliant idea, and I truly appreciate the suggestion. It looks terrific! :thumb:
